I love photo mode, but one thing that really bothers me is that as I'm watching a replay there will come a certain point on some tracks such as Nurburgring where you want to pause it for a photo session because everything looks really good, and in this case I'm talking specifically about the background. Like while the replay is in motion you might be on a certain section of the track where you can see the road behind the car going off into the distance and it will have a lot of depth to it, and then as soon as you pause it, the road suddenly looks void and flat, and you're unable to capture the actual image that was seen during the replay. Am I the only one who's noticed this? Does anyone know why this occurs? Solutions, tricks, etc?...

Probably has to do with the angle/location of the replay camera -vs- that of the still camera. I have been able to walk a good distance away in some shots to get a similar angle to the replay camera.

I'm not sure exactly what you're saying to be honest. It sounds though like when you pause it, you don't like the stillness of the image.

If that's the case, you might try lowering the shutter speed and aperture (f-number), as well as trying different panning modes. And of course, always make sure you have the car in focus. You can find an in-depth guide stickied in this forum.

yeah, replays always look cool because they're in motion, and sweeping landscapes look great when the camera pans over them.

On Nurburgring when you come to the crest of the first big hill, the one immediately followed by a sweeping right, the road in the background will have very noticeable elevation difference between the foreground and background, but if you pause it at that point that contrast becomes much less exaggerated in photo mode. I'm using Nurburgring as an example because of it's familiararity, but I've actually noticed this visual at its worst on one of 'my courses' on Toscona. I'm sorry, but I don't know how to describe it much clearer than that.

I know what you're saying. You pause it with the car cresting a hill at a really nice angle, but when you enter photo mode, it just looks more like a car on a much flatter landscape. Its not always do-able, but like I said, I have been able to get some long zoom shots where I walked over the next hill, etc. and looked back.

It definitely flattens out the landscape though.

Exactly! Well, I'll have to experiment with the long zoom like you're saying.

I get what your saying as well. Took me a while to figure it out as well & its like the guys are saying you have to walk back & zoom in :)

First, try to cycle through the various available "cameras", pressing select. Maybe, the view you want is there.

If not, you'll have to try to mimic what you saw by yourself. But then, you'll have to understand a bit about photography, like the wide/tele effects of a lens, aperture, shutter speeds, etc.

Having said that, some angles you see during a replay are impossible to replicate in Photomode, unfortunately.
PD should allow us to capture that view, like in GT4.

nismo33's photo represents the look/depth i was wanting to capture, and, yes, after walking back aways and then zooming in I have been able to achieve satisfying results. THANKS!
