Does anybody else get a challenge out of using a car without engine upgrades, tire uprades or downforce? To me this is the ultimate...to take for example my current task, the Spyker and try to win European Championship without changing the S2 tires or the hp or adding a wing, this is hard for me yet i love it. It would be toooo easy to just boost everything and then blow away the AI. PS I also tried not removing weight but alas it was last place for me (me driving skills are weak..lol) but getting better. This car has bad understeer, as described on top gear episode on youtube. so I'm trying ballast in the front end. May win it yet!:dopey:

To fix understeer you put the ballast in the REAR, not the front.

I agree, you don't need anything more than S2 tires and cars without wings to tackle the Euro championship.

Yea, I wouldn't worry about ballast at all to try and fix understeer, unless I were off-road. I'd look at your settings, first. What are they, by the way?

yea ballast should be set to the rear. but kudos to you and yes i've done this as well. i've tuned some cars half-way with the performance parts other get a racing exhaust, FC suspension, and an oil change and im ready to rock! let us in on the Euro Champ results when your finish with it.

Well' first, thanks for reading my post !!! And so far its going alright in the Championship...One race done, got third yet held second spot up till the final straight away in Paris. Have Poll Position Secured for Grand Valley... yeah!
Paris Settings...triple plate/racing flywheel/carbon drive shaft
brakes 7/3 springs 6.5/5.8 ride ht. 86/100 bound 2/5 rebound4/6
camber 5/1 toe -1/1 stabilizers 3/6 lsd 8/25/10 tcs 5
Ballast 75 all to the front fctrans at default

About the ballast thing, I was going by some info from the gtvault.com tuning guide. I will try moving it to the back and test drive it a bit. It frustrates me because I was running times down in the 1:31 range last week and I didn't document my settings at that time. Even then I couldn't keep up with the Mercedes Maclairen !

My settings at Grand Valley are this (and the car is killer!!!)
Ballast 75 all up front (-50)
Lsd 10/30/15 TCS 5
fc trans at auto 11
springs 13/10 ride ht. 74/93 bound 7/8 rebound 7/8 camber 2/1
toe 0/0 stabilizers 5/5 brakes 7/3

PS Iluv this game !!:)

Nice work Long5056-
Like Parnelli Bone and SRinc say, its nice to see someone trying some of the races in stock or near stock tune.👍

To have better luck in the Pan European Championship, I would adjust your tune slightly. Since you mention understeer, the normal fix for this is to soften the front end, push ballast to the rear, and increase the rear brake bias. Also, I think you may have your transmission gearing set too tall (for Grand Valley, I recommend setting the auto slider to 10, for Opera Paris and Cote d'Azur to 5, and to 11 at Le Sarthe and Nurburgring).

If I read your settings correctly, you have added ballast of 75 and then moved it to the front with a setting of -50. Is this correct? I recommend that you set the ballast back to zero and move the ballast to +5 (to the rear). You can add back some ballast once you win the races if you want to make them harder and gain additional A-spec points. But initially, start at a slightly easier level without the extra ballast.

My Spyker C8 Laviolette, which I have used to win all races in the Pan Euro Championship, has the following settings: HP456, weight 1070kg, S2 tires, Brakes at 9/10, Springs at 10.5/10.5, Ride at 84/84, Bound 3/5, Rebound 4/6, Camber 2.2/1.0, Toe 0/1, Stabilizers at 3/4, Aids at 1/1/3, Ltd-slip at 10/30/10, Ballast at 0 set to +5 (to the rear). I am not an expert tuner so there's room for improvement, but I found that these settings worked quite well. One last thing, if the Mercedes SL McLaren keeps giving you problems, switch to a lineup that does not have the Mercedes. This will reduce your A-spec points but at least you can get the win.:)
