I unfortunately havent actually owned and played any GT games since GT1, and now that I recently decided to actually get a PS2 and GT4 Im wondering what happened to my favorite car, the dodge concept car (The Copperhead). There was an original orange version you got from all gold on the B liscnece test and then a yellow or purple one that was won in arace that was tuned up a bit. Those tuned up versions were my absolute favorite cars in the game as they handled just so wonderfully and had amazing acceleration and I won almost every race, save for a few weird ones, with them

it seems the copperhead is no longer in GT4, so im wondering whats the closest, for anybody who also loved it in GT1. Im thinking i might try out the lotus Elise, but thats just a guess going by what ive read about the real car.

thanks

Well, in GT2 (I never owned GT1 until recently, and I don't have the Copperhead in it), a close car to it was the Honda S2000, the Mercedes SLK, and the older Mazda RX-7 body style (as in the Infini III and GT-X). Another good match for it in GT4 might be the Chrysler Crossfire (same "feel" as SLK) and Chrysler Prowler (beware though, you can't race it against others). A mildly tuned Corvette C1 (let's say, just muffler, weight reduction and every part but NA tune up or supercharger, so around 230-250 BHP) also might fit the bill.

thanks, ill have to try those out

I dont remember the actual horsepower and torque stats for the race modified copperhead (the orange stock one wasnt really useful) so im not sure how close some of these suggestions will be, but im going to try them out when I get to that point (I really just statred playing GT4)

It seems all me other favorites are back, the Viper GTS for drifting, the Race Modified NSX because it impressed my friends that i could drive it, but the copperhead was so manuverable and had such excellent acceleration that I could pretty much never drift or powerslide and go through endurance races with about one pit stop and still do wonderfully.

As far as how dominant the "Concept Car" was, you won't find anything. It was easily and hands down the fastest car in GT1. The closest thing is probably the Escudo in GT2. After that, Polyphony Digital kind of toned down how superior a car could be. I think some of it was a little more pursuit of realism and some was an attempt to force players to use more cars. The Toyota 88C-V Minolta Le Mans Car is probably as close to dominant as you'll find in GT4 but it's hard to drive compared to how the old Copperhead was.

well bummer, although that car did make damn near every race awfully easy. I guess ill just find something fun that handles similarly even if it doesnt have the speed. I think im definately going to try out a Lotus Elise, not sure about ingame, but according to a few places they are supposed to be one of the most manuverable cars out there.
