COD:Modern Warfare 2 Prestige edition
/end thread.

A game which isn't out and not coming out on PS2? I hope that was meant to be a joke, otherwise it is just a straight up pointless post.

Back on subject, Timesplitters is a pretty safe bet, bots for split screen, split screen online capability if people still play, plenty of multiplayer options like downloading other peoples levels (I used to have a couple of top 10 highest rated mini missions from my Splitter Cell series, on my old Ea user name, themaster744 IIRC). The controls are fluent and easy, physics are great, guns are plentiful and the single player is comical and enjoyable.

The Socom series provides some potential if there's still an active online community, Socom 3 (or Combined Assault) is the best bet for online use. Otherwise the older Socoms, 1 and 2, are generally better for single player I think, they were just a bit more challenging I think and more tactical. However there's not much replay value to be found.

The COD series is of course pretty well sorted to, I personally enjoyed the first the most of the PS2 generation however despite many COD fanboys around shelling Medal of Honour, there is a gem to be had. MOH: Frontline was a fantastic FPS, it provided one of the best missions ever seen in an FPS, perhaps not in gameplay terms but for it's age and console, the Normandy landings were the most epic of beginnings for a WW2 game. There were also some other notable missions, such as Arnhem Nights focusing on Market Garden.

Other notable games, Half Life, Red Faction and the previously mentioned Black are also well received by most.

I don't really rate any shooters on PS2, for me the Halo series was the start of the good shooters on consoles but if you have no choice then I would get Timesplitters 2 and 3 they have a ok story but for me the multiplayer is good even nowadays.

I must disagree, Halo is good (although I personally don't like it in the slightest, I accept it's appeal and achievements) but there are plenty of good shooters around. Not to mention, first good shooter on console? Goldeneye hands down, not the remakes, the original.

Timesplitters 2 I sunk the most time into. It had an amazing map editor complete with bots that you just couldn't beat. You could whip up an awesome map in 5 minutes, then you and a buddy could jump right in and add a whole crap load of bots if you wish. That game was one of the best PS2 games ever.

Timesplitters 3 was also very good, but just slightly under Timesplitters 2 when it cme to single player.

It is an amazing series and you should pick up all 3 of them if you get the chance.

+1 timesplitters 2 is the best in the series. I would take it as far as saying its the best shooter i have played on ps2! Good in both single and multiplayer:)

:dunce: Woops forgot about the Goldeneye and Perfect dark N64 duo they were damn good games! Remote mines and angling RPG's off the walls was great fun.

To me it was just a funny fact that Nightvision goggles came with that edition. The Socom series provides some pote....killswitch since I bought it for my brother.

I wish Socom 2 was still its best bet for online use because there were great times

I agree, Socom 2 was my favourite by far, loved it, but S3 wasn't bad really, and alot of people liked the vehicles and such. It wasn't as good as S2, but still not bad.

Last time I went online, there were 250 people total online.

I can't even remember how many were on last time I was, I stopped playing Socoms when I started playing Midnight Club 3 alot online, which quite frankly nailed the social side of gaming, plain simple text chat for all. It's so simple, cuts out the annoying noobs with headsets playing music and what not, yet every developed (pretty much) still won't put it in for console games.

Socom 2 had that function though not a lot of people knew about it. I got a third party keyboard and used its "cheat"s to contact certain clan members during games and usually try to find them out. I love the mic though it had its usual stereotypes no matter who you were.
