So, a lot of you may know me, I recently started posting a lot in the GT5 Forums. Then I decided to venture on to the other forums. Getting in topics such as Automatic vs. Manual", and Is "The Miata Legendary?"

Then I went back to the GT5 forums, being an avid fan of GT since GT1. I took to the online racing forums, and was quickly outmatched. Questions popped into my head such as, "Do I really suck this bad?"

Well, before I got GT1, I went to my friends house, which was very young at the time. We would play games like NFS and GT all the time. But these visits became less and less, and by the time GT3 came around, we rarely ever played games. He was one of the greatest drivers on GT I had ever seen, and he inspired me to play more. One day this year, after GT5 had been released, him and his parents came over for dinner. I told him I finally got GT5, so we both went to play GT5. I then got complemented on my driving, which was really happy for me, as he was the one who taught me everything.

So I didn't understand this online thing, and why I sucked so much. So I did my homework, and searched around the GT5 forums. I found threads with similar problems. With almost the same answer for all of them. The main problem was the DS3. This didn't ring any bells however. So I proceded to the Steering Wheels & Racing Cockpits Forum, where I am now posting. This, mystical DS3 is actually the controller, however I do not use this killer. I do use the Sixaxis though, which leads me to believe that this is even worse. I knew I needed a wheel.

A couple of months ago, I came looking for a showdown between three wheels. The Fanatec Porsche 911 Carrera Wheel for $160. A Logitech DFGT for $90. Or the Logitech G27 for about $300. Sortly there-after I eleminated the DFGT, as I wanted an H-Gate with Clutch. I setup a poll here, asking for which wheel was better, and if you had suggestions for another wheel. Out of the three polls, most people suggested another wheel. So I searched all the posts. The wheel most people recommended was the Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 RS CSE. This came with Fanatecs greatly praised Clubsport Pedals made of all metal, and with a load cell brake. It also came with the highly acclaimed GT3 RS wheel, made with full alacantara made to replicate the real wheel. I looked more into this wheel, and found it to be the one.

A couple months later, they re-released the CSE of the wheel. It was an instant steal.

So now I sit here, still with no wheel. Eating a piece of cheese on bread, telling you my tale. With the purchase of this wheel only a few days away. I figured its time to tell my adventure, and surely its going to be a great one ahead, greater than this 8 year journey I've been taking, without even knowing so. The one I have posted about just now, right above us. Its time to reach the climax of this story, its time to end this battle! I promise to update you regularly, take pictures of my uphill battle to get an amazing cockpit! With reviews and commentary of my struggle. Even the unboxing of my wheel once I purchase it, its time.

Heres my current setup, look at that snazy XBOX controller!

Looking forward to this build! Gotta give you props for building yourself and to your liking!

I have to say, I'm in the same boat in some regards.
When GT1 came out I couldn't afford a PS1 and my parents wouldn't buy one for me.
A friend of mine had it though and we played it ALOT.

The GT3 RS CSP is a great wheel/pedal package.
Myself, I can't decide between this one and the T500 simply because I don't know if I want the better wheel or the better pedals.

Congrats on the purchase though, most certainly going from a PS controller to this awesome wheel will be great.
Looking forward hearing what you think as I never owned a wheel either and thinking about the T500 and how it might change my view on racing.

Well, I skipped out on the whole PS1 thing. And went to the PS2 route when I had money. I was lucky that my friend had the PS1 though, otherwise I wouldn't be into gaming.
