So here I am.
I've had the DFGT for 3 years and I think it's time to upgrade to something better, something that would work well with both GT5 AND FM4, plus rFactor and other pc games.

I was thinking about the Fanatec CSR BUT I don't know how good it is with GT5 (is it even compatible?), I don't know how much it will cost with the pedals and shifter set (only the wheel is available, at 250€ on Fanatec's website) and I'm not sure I want to spend all that money via internet.

My other option would be the Fanatec 911 GT2. I could buy it right now at my local store (250€) with the clubsport pedals (200€). It looks like it's pretty good with GT5 https://www.gtplanet.net/isr-fanatecs-new-911-gt2-steering-wheel-best-for-gt5/ and I doubt it won't be with FM4.
One thing left is the shifter set: 30€ on Fanatec's website, no problem.
Correct me if I'm wrong but this wheel doesn't have the plug for the 360 headset...and I kinda need it.

What do you guys think?

One last thing, how do I mount the CSR or 911 GT2 to the wheelstand pro?
At the moment I'm using it with the DFGT and I love it.

Thanks in advance.

The CSR is the same as the GT2 but with upgraded electronics and the new wheel, base is the same.

So it works well with all your mentioned games.

They both have headset connections for the Xbox.

The CSR and GT2 both come with table clamps, there's a separate clamp you can buy from Fanatec or you can hard mount it to the wheelstand with screws I think.

If you want a wheel with proper FFB for all 3 platforms you're stuck with a wheel and pedal set that ranges from 250 to 500 dollars from the Fanatec website.
If you are not comfortable with online purchases then with those demands it will be game over, at least until Fanatec goes and distributes to retailers. And the likelyness of that is practically non existand.

Oh ok cool.

Yeah...I might pierce the wheel base of my wheelstand pro.
Do the screws come with these wheels? If not, what's the size? I need to know how it looks underneath these wheels but I can't find any picture. EDIT: nevermind I downloaded the GT2 manual and everything is explained.

Dude, as I said my local Gamestop has the 911 GT2 AND the clubsport pedals (they're even on the website http://www.gamestop.it/core/common/default.aspx?quickSearch=fanatec ). I could pick them up right now.

I am in the same situation as you.

Depending on how much money you can spend and how long you can wait the CSR Elite wheel will be available soon (I think somone said it is in testing now and may be available by the end of the year?).

For the moment I am waiting on the reviews of the CSR, CSR Elite, and CSW (unfortunately, no Xbox360 compatability) before making any decisions on which wheel to buy.

good luck! let us know hwat you do!
:)

@hardvibes: sorry it was late at night and was sleepy. I read over it somehow, my bad. I hope no hard feelings?

I've watched the review of the CSR wheel on ISR. And to be honest it mainly depends if you mind having a plastic seem across your wheel or not. Personally I think I'd rather go for the GT2. But that's just my 2 cents since I've been looking for a wheel for forza as well. Unfortunately forza disappointed me in the demo with too much understeer. So I will be getting me a nice rig instead.

Hope you'll enjoy your future purchase and that your not mad or anything.

Cheers,
LogiForce

We're all pretty sure that the Cinque was tuned for understeer in order to make it more manageable. drive-wise, for a wider scale of people. It is the demo of course.

So the real character of the car should shine through once we get our hands on retail.

You're lucky for having those wheels in stock in your local Gamestore vibes. If that was the case here I wouldn't have been able to resist the temptation of picking up a GT2 ages ago.

Mounting screws do not come with Fanatec wheels. Correct size is M6, with length determined by the thickness of the plate you're mounting the wheel onto. Be advised the mounting holes are not horizontally symmetrical. The holes on one side are closer to the centerline than one the other side.

As others have said, the Xbox headset jack is included. It is located on the left side of the base, next to the USB socket (USB is used only for PC/PS3).

Since you have the ability to purchase from a brick and mortar store, you should definitely do so - maybe their return policy will help you avoid some of the frustration I've been experiencing with my GT2. (I purchased mine from the Fanatec US webshop in early August, and am having difficulties getting Fanatec support to resolve the malfunction issues. I'm on my second GT2 wheel since then, and am zero for two on getting one that functions properly. Pretty frustrating, especially since the GT2 is a great wheel that works really well - when it works.

Hope you enjoy your Fanatec purchase!

/\ Yep.

But I ordered the CSR cause it's slightly upgraded, has an analog stick for menu browsing and doesn't have the worn out/old Porsche wheel look to it :p

an unboxing will be online soon as well as a review.. the unboxing should be up in a few hours.

Don't care, at least I can drive Porsche in every game. Lol.

Would the GT2 with the G27/5 pedals and standard Porsche shifter work in FM4 (Meaning would the Clutch and H pattern work in FM4?) ?

There were screws that came with the CSR wheel, aren't they for mounting the wheel? or are they for the pedals.

If there for the pedals are they not the same size screws you would use to mount the wheel?

Just curious, anyone comment on this?

interesting, since when did gamestop start stocking Fanatec products? I thought they were direct order only

I just purchased the GT2 myself, over the CSR. I prefer the look and from what I have read and watched, the differences are not massive. They are there, but not huge. Thus I opted for the more car like, full alcantara option. Not to mention it comes with the G27 pedal adapter and the CSR does not so technically it is also cheaper somewhat..

It is indeed interesting, especially since they don't make a profit on them if they would just order them from the Fanatec web-shop via a personal account, like everyone else does and can. They sell them for 249,99 euros and so does Fanatec themselves. Odd...

I hope Thomas can clear up something here for us? :dunce:

We have sold products to Gamestop Italy but this was a local deal. We will not expand our retail distribution and rather focus to improve our e-commerce offer.

Are you ever going to ship to the Channel Islands?

I had to have my order shipped to a friend in the UK and then have him send it on to me, costing me an extra £56.

It just doesn't make any sense that UPS don't deliver over here. I am only 30 kilometers away from France which is a lot closer than the UK is. My order ended up travelling an extra 600 or more kilometers across the Channel to the UK.

When I emailed Fanatec pointing out this issue they said they would check on the shipping cost, the reply I got from them was that UPS won't deliver over here which to me is a strange decision. Every other order including my wheelstand pro came via UPS and there based in Poland.

Any chance you can comment on this?

If something goes wrong with the product it's going to cost a lot to get it sent over and repaired which is very worrying :ouch:
