Kids don't need BS toys or any pointless material object.

Send them food, clothing, linens, and water. However, food drives would be useless, as there is almost no way to deliver it. Donating money to fund all of these things is your best bet.

No...not an awesome idea. Sure, it's a good idea, but it's hardly realistic. All the money spent on the toys and other junk could be used towards another meal for that child.

Ask yourself what's more important.

I understand fully, but kids need something to play with and keep them occupied.... keep their hopes up ya know?

Look, I'm sorry if it seems "pointless" to have BS toys. But have you ever gone through this? I mean, you need something to cling onto if you don't have a house anymore. People tend to find comfort in something they can actually hold. Water is being sent by our local Spring Dam. Clothing and food will be sent out after the first care packages are accounted for. And once we raise the money to ship it all.

I understand, too. But toys don't help people survive. Think about the staples first...that's all i'm saying.

Sounds like you don't have any kids.

They do need "stupidass BS toys". To a tiny one, a toy is not pointless. The business of childhood is play.

Not to worry, though. In the next few weeks we're going to see an outpouring of charity and relief the likes of which this country has never seen before.

Sorry if I came off as harsh. I'm sick of all this BS involving the delay of relief.

What I meant was that kids are literally starving, and that a sandwich or something would do wonders more than a mere toy. If you're going to send toys, you'd better send a LOT more food in comparison. People think about this and feel what I previously expressed when they're starving and feeling forsaken. They'd ask why on earth you sent toys, but not enough food to enjoy the toys on.

I think what Omnis is sayin, "Why should these kids 'wash for supper' when they have no supper? Play? With no food in their bellies?"

I hear 'ya, Omnis.

Whilst they need things such as food, clothing, etc. To a child, a toy would calm their nerves. Just think how odd this situation this is for them. Most small children keep stuffed bears around, and they are kind of like security for them. Something like that could be just one step back to normal.

EDIT: Jetboys, that is a great idea. You should go for it. 👍

Yes, but what most people don't realize is that these kids will be too distracted by their starving, ravenous hunger to enjoy a toy or something. Their brains are in survival mode. That means their only concern is the primal instinct of getting something into their bellies.

I mean, once everyone has a steady food supply being given to them, then sure...toys would be fantastic. I'm just saying...look past the idea of comfortability and put yourself in their world of desperation.

Why don't you just donate some money instead? Quick, easy, and practical.

By the way, the total on that page was around $4 million last night!

Yeah, it seems like at the moment money is better than trying to help directly from far away places. I donated money but I still feel helpless. :(
