I need help with my Palm

ok my Palm Pilot refuses to hot sync with my computer and i just reinstalled my software so i dont know if thats the problem but the palm tries to link with the computer but my computer just makes 3 low beeps then says new hardware found! what do i do? i've tried many other forums sites and i havent had any replys so this was my last resort.
hopefully somebody out there has a palm and knows what im talking about?

No, i didnt just get my palm i got it like a year ago i just neglected(sp?) it for a while when i got my first "nice" cell phone(ex. color screen vs. my old star tac) and when i installed windows xp on my computer i had to start over with the palms software and my connection with my computer is messed up( not the connection cable the computer really)

huh true there is but i was in a hurry and this was the first place i thought of. and the 3 low beeps come on as soon as i press hot sync.

High on life, I have the same problem.

I own the Zire 71 from Palm and it won't hotsync with my Sager laptop, which, in essence, is an Alienware without the paint job. It's soo much cheaper that way.

Anyways, they are both brand new and don't seem to like eachother. The funny thing is, is that it hot sync's with a friends identical alienware. What's the deal with that?

i know that already but i was busy and had to make this thread quick and this was the first place i thought of!(the rumble strip that is) .......

ya i hear ya toyomatt mines a m130 and i lost my m130 software so i installed a m125's software from my friend and he said it should work i mean they r the same but nothing works with my computer i even got my palm to hot sync on my friends computer but not mine!

My only advice would be to ask on a Palm or PDA specific forum, like PDAstreet.com, or PDAbuzz.com.

It sounds as if the "Soft Reset" is the way to do it, but what the heck is a "Soft Reset"?

Push the reset button on the back of your Palm. (It's usually the kind where you need to use a pin). It differs from a hard reset in that to do a hard reset, you have to hold a certain button while pushing reset. Make sure not to do a hard reset, as it will erase all of your data.
