allways a blue scrren apears and tell me the system has halted.

today was twice and averytime i have to reboot my pc.

today the firts time was the error 0E:0028:764c08501 dvx,

and the 2nd was something about the 0E:0028:ffffffff

i try to fix the problem running my norton windoctor, but the windoctor never find any problem even on my hd.

can some one tell me whats wrong with my pc, and what i can do to fix it.

thanks.

Your computer isn't going "crazy"

Run scandisk

Disable Norton. I've seen more problems come out of there than Norton solves.

Explain your problem in more detail. Are you starting up Internet Explorer and then it crashes or are you signing onto a ISP client like AOL before you launch a IE window?

Are you running any other programs in the background or at startup?

i try to run scandisc but allways stop because another program is running (don't know wich one)

and 90 % of the time that happend after a few minutes on the net.

btw this program are running or at least appers wn i hit ctrl+alt+del

explorer
atrack
zonealarm
navapw32
lamapp
save
monwow
gbtray
csinsm32
systray
lxsupmon
lexpps
nprotect
csinjet
btw i'm using windows me.

explorer - Internet Explorer - Keep
atrack - Spyware - Remove
zonealarm - Zone Alarm - Keep
navapw32 - Windows Networking - Keep
lamapp - Norton - Disable
save - ??? - Remove
monwow - Norton - Disable
gbtray - Norton - Disable
csinsm32 - Norton - Disable
systray - Windows System Tray - Keep
lxsupmon - Lexmark Printer Software - Disable
lexpps - Lexmark Spyware (?) - Remove
nprotect - Norton - Disable
csinjet - Norton - Disable

Seriously, uninstall that Norton software. It causes nothing but trouble. Also, it seems you have spyware installed too. Download Ad-Aware, it will remove any spyware. www.lavasoft.de

thanks for the help.
i still having the problem,my friend will come to home to see if he can fix it.

btw i got the ad-aware program (thanks to eddy) and i use this morning after i erase the kazaa program.

i found a internet explorer rare program (like the cydoor) is called alexa.i eliminated too.

thanks for the help i realy apreciate it alot.

Wrong. It's Norton Anti-Virus Application (Windows 32-bit).

So you should leave that one running.

Save is spyware.

if youre havin problems running scan disk, turn off your screen saver, end every running program except 'explorer' and 'systray' and try that....

they'll appear once you restart your computer....

if your still having probs then remove links in your 'quick launch toolbar' dwnm by your start button....just leave two or so in there...they interfere with scandisk if you have too many....

but even if scan disk does find a problem it sounds like your drivers are corrupted and need reinstalled. vxd are virtual device drivers....try the manufacurers site for updates etc..
cheers

my ex has been having problems like that for over a year with her computer, it's a HP with windows ME, they've had it in the shop, re-formatted it about 3 times...it always starts doing it again in a couple of weeks, if it runs good that long...they think the HP is just a total piece of crap (has a pentium 3 with 128 mb, cd/rw and dvd/rom, i think it's pretty nice)...i think it's the ME...my old computer was a celeron 633 with windows 98, worked a lot better than theirs, only crashed a few times...my new one is a AthlonAMD 2000+ with 256 mb running XP, it hasn't crashed yet (i mean never, as in not once :) ) and i really rag it out...ditch the ME, my friend...

I used to have loads of fatal errors on Windows 98se. A reformat did the trick. - No errors for 2 Months ( Thats pretty good for Microsoft! )

What version of Norton do you have? Norton Disk Doctor is a really nice program, I think it comes with Norton System Works. I don't know why you guys are all dissing Norton, it hasn't given me any problems. Now Zone Alarm, there's something that gives me problems! It won't let me play Half Life without me completely turning ZA off, and it really slows down games like America's Army! Ugh, but when just browsing the web, I usually have it on.

What type of computer do you have and what do you use it for? If you use that computer for really only browsing, documents, spreadsheets, etc, then I'd suggest getting some version of Linux on there. It hasn't crashed on me yet, and the versions I get for it are LEGALLY FREE(less the cost of the CD's I have to burn the ISO's on...) But anywho, yeah, if you're not into gaming on the computer, get Linux, and talk to me when you get it installed and such and I'll help you set stuff up better(notice I said "better", as in not perfect, that comes with tweaking it for your own tastes and liking, what I'm talking about it slight setting changes to make it run more smoothly)

But if you're into gaming for games other than the Unreal series, I'd stick with Windows. Sorry to insult you, Linux, but you just don't have the largest library of games:(

i got a compaq preasio 1200.
a pentium III with 700 mhz.
60 mb of ram (that is what specifications said)
dvd no cdr.
and runing on windows me.

my friend said i got a lot of junk, because i didn't had more than 300 mb free on my hd,then i uninstal a lot programs and erease a lot more and now i got 4 gbites free,ut still having the program.

i'm planning on play freesbe with this piece of crap, but i have to wait untill i get the money for a new one.

btw hp is 100% pc compatible or not.(i don't like compaq or hp but i got a nice 25%+ off on any of those)

that is what my friend said, and i know is the cost less way.
but i'm tired of this .i can't make much up grades because is a lap top.

but btw i want more power, more fictures like tv output ,digital audio and bigger screen and a dvd burner.

just when i was making this message the pc said is another problem on it is "wuaboot" what is that and can i fix it ?

thanks a lot to anyone for all you help.

thanks.

I would recommend running Slackware, Debian, or Mandrake on your computer. I wouldn't really recommend RedHat, mostly because it's getting some pretty bad reviews as of lately, such as it runs too slowly now and it's forgetting about its users and is trying to be another Microsoft-type group, which upsets many. But yeah, I'm content with Slackware 8.1 on my 200mhz computer, it does what I need it to do. 700mhz should be ample for it though, so I don't see what you're complaining about. Sure, it's not a 3ghz, but it's still more than 3x better than my computer!

You're going to want to get a desktop computer. You can always use your laptop when you go away. Desktop computers can fit bigger processors, which means more power. I'd go for an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ processor. Cheap and fast. DVD Burner, you're going to want a Sony DRU-500A. They're not cheap, but they're the best DVD burner on the market. CRT monitors are the best way to go if you're going to watch DVDs and play 3D games on your computer. A big 19" won't come cheap though. You'll want a Sound Blaster Extigy which has built in Dolby Digital processing.

i was looking for a dell, because they give me on site service + nice deals too.
i also was looking for hp or compaq (i hate both) but i got nice disscounts on both.

thanks for your advice about the monitor cause i was thinking on a flat one.

btw i need a nice sound card with digital output to hook it to my home teather, and a video card with digital input & output to my tv.

thanks for the help.
