So today is a sad day for me,my daughter was playing in my ps3...she deleted my GT5 saves...i had lvl 40 b spec,35 a spec,18 milion...and 250 cars....how can i recover my deleted saves? im kinda panic here, can i conect this HDD to my pc and use a recovery program for deleted files?

all the help is welcome.

Many thanks.

As far as I know, it's done. You can't recover what was deleted.
That's why I use a USB drive to create backup saves in case something happens to my PS3.

I have a really old save, really low level,25 cars and no money...there has to be a solution for this?

backup files from the update, are they still there?

Since the latest 2.06 update, as long as you updated GT5, you should've had 2 GT5 save files. If your daughter deleted them both and you did not back them up , then all is lost with no solution unfortunately.

what do you mean? the gamee is fully working,i just dont have the save file in my hdd, nothing shows in ps3...

Yes she deleted them both...what u think if i try connecting the hard drive to my computer using an 2.5'' external SATA USB hard drive enclosure and run a data restore application.
Something like this can restore your files assuming you didn't overwrite the hard drive after the format (i.e. save new game files, install games, download demo's, etc.) ?

I feel for you man. But you gotta be smart about it. It's like you wouldn't land a restored Mach 1 to a 13 y old for a spin you know. You gotta be there.

You could try this, the problem is that you would need to find a FAT32 HDD recovery tool. FAT32 is the PS3 HDD file system. You might be able to find a free one online by searching on Google or some other search engine. Most modern PC's from Windows XP and up run the NTFS file system, most, not all, depends on the user, so it wouldn't be able to read/recognize the PS3 FAT32 HDD at all once it's connected to your PC. If your PC is running FAT32 then you're in luck.

If you decide to try the HDD recovery, make sure to back-up the PS3 HDD first.

If you don't come to a solution to solve your problem, I can send you any premium cars u need/want since I already have all the cars I can possibly want (1000 exactly) and 14 million credits (which I don't need).

I wouldn't fiddle around with the HDD if I were you. Mostly because I don't know anything about how the PS3 works. I would be too scared to mess up some important directory somewhere and have the entire console ruined. I think you better phone Sony's support and ask them, they would know for sure what you can and can't do.

I agree with eran0004, don't fiddle around with the PS3 HDD. You never know what can happen.
There is a menu (not XMB) that can supposedly reform the HDD and reinstall the PS3 software if you were to encounter any problems, but still, I would not risk it.
I personally think you are more likely to get a headache from messing around with the HDD than successfully retrieving the lost data.

I would recommend you change something on your PS3 for the future. Have 2 profiles, set one to automatically log in on start up, use the other for your main GT5 account. Sorry to hear of your game loss. You will hit level 30 pretty quick with the daily log in bonus and Seasonals. Plus all those free tickets are a trading bonanza.

Good luck. Starting again is tough mentally, but you get out what you put in. I am currently starting again on my GT-HO account and I don't have enough time to do it quick. So I am doing it differently. I have lost some races and it's ok. I am trying with cars that struggle to compete.

I forgot to mention earlier that recovery of lost data is very hard(straining/punishing) on HDD's. Most programs write in very small words of damage that can occur, it doesn't always happen, but it is possible. So of course, the choice is yours, good luck.

I am willing to lend you any car I have on share. But I'm booked for trades.

Add me PSN is over there <------ I have the 2J, Diablo and a couple of other helpful cars shared which will give you a leg up in the seasonals.

Always, always the USB.

Add me if u want too. I got 45 tickets, 1367 cars and 20 mil. I'll send stuff. Just tell me what u need, or borrow.

This won't work. The PS3's hard drive is encrypted so you won't be able to access most, if not all, the files on it.

^ yup. Plus the PS3 file system is NOT FAT32.... it's a hybrid Sony filesystem. It can't read NTFS as that is proprietary Microsoft.

Read that people. Hybrid. I hate that it partially uses FAT32 as you can have files only up to under 4gb per file. From the problem you listed you should be more focused on what punishment to give rather than how to get the data back because anything short of an actual PS3 technician won't help.
