I am running this thread to ask the following:

If (after completing a game) you could obtain a hand crafted physical trophy specific to that game would you....

Purchase it?

And if so....

How much would you pay?

I would love to hear all your opinions!!! Let me know :)

No way! Are you :censored:ing kidding me? :banghead:
That just doesn't seem to make any logical sense to buy a trophy unless you beat other people. A trophy must be something that all want, but only one or a few can get. It must be "coveted" by others. A trophy for completing a game doesn't really fit this.

Thanks for your oppositions. I was thinking that each trophy would be limited to the first 1000 or so people to collect all the game trophies and complete the story line within the game. This means that on the day of release, people will scramble to complete the game and reap a physical reward that they can showcase on their mantel shelf :)

And yes a trophy would normally be about beating other people at some sort of competition, however this idea I guess is about clocking the game and having something to show for it. Also not everybody that plays a game will complete it, but it gives that extra incentive to complete the game (and get your moneys worth).

I appreciate all honest opinions about this idea.

No. That is just... a bit sad in my opinion.

Maybe I'll order one and when it comes in, I'll pick it up, raise it over my head and kiss it. Then I will have a big party for it and show it off to every girl I meet and put it in a glorious trophy case along with all my CoD trophies and my InFamous trophy. This is more than just a bit sad...

Thanks for your replies :)

There are many gamers out there who I would consider "Trophy Hunters". I have 3 at my work alone.

Have a look at http://www.wetanz.com/halo/ ........These are some examples I am referring to.

I don't think that trying to get platinum trophies is particularly sad, it's just when you find the need to express you 'achievement' to the average person.
I have two platinum trophies (Fallout 3 and MW2) but I did not do so to accomplish anything, I did so because I enjoyed the game.
Boasting about achieving such things outside of the virtual world is just, very sad IMO.

Get your own trophy made. Go down to your local engraving shop, they'll have a bunch of generic trophies on the wall for sale, and pay them to engrave one with your name, the date, and PLATINUM - HELLO KITTY ISLAND ADVENTURE or whatever.

I guarantee your satisfaction with this object will be extremely limited.

Yeah, it's nuts to think someone would pay for this. Now, if a dev were to include some EXTREMELY difficult achievement in a game that only a handful of people would ever achieve, and offered a physical prize for it, I think it could generate a fair amount of buzz. Or a lot of hacking and glitching, depending on how much faith you have in humanity.

Now let's get down to buisness. How much do you want for Gold Trophy?

I want to know the weight of the trophy, the quality of gold used in making Gold Trophy i mean how many carats does your trophies will have, 18 or 24 which is pure gold.
