If you are a multi-console gamer you might have noticed the current 360 game cases are a bit thick and bulky compared to the other consoles. PS3 cases are thin, Blu Ray movie case are thin. Plus they are hardly ever sending manuals anymore. So no reason to have thick game cases. I am not sure about the hight yet. They could even be a little bit shorter but we will see.

^ Not sure if 360 haters, PS3 haters, Blu Ray haters or just dont feel like contributing to a thread?? Did you even read the first post?

Here is a googled pic of a slim blu ray case. 5mm = 0.19 inches. Just a little over 1/8" (0.125) thick. Thats almost 1/3 the thickness of the 360 case. You could almost fit 3 of these in place of a 360 case. lol

I doubt that it won't use Blu-Ray for physical games since that's the highest standard for optical discs as of now.

Although with the super-thin casing, there isn't a lot of space on the spine to add a game's title (such as they do now). And games still include the Customer Support booklets, and leaflets for the 48 hours of XBL. A lot of games still do have pretty thick paper booklets, too. It'll be a good idea in theory (better storage, cheaper production), I don't think it'll be that thin.

I'm not understanding something here.

My PS3 cases have the same thickness as the 360 cases.
360 cases are quite taller though.

Not sure about blu-ray cases as I have none in my posession.

I am not trying to indicate the 360 will have a blu ray player (would be nice). I am just saying that the 360 case really is thicker and taller than most other console cases out there. Plus since they are eliminating most manuals, why not use a similar design to the slim Blu Ray cases?

Even the PS3 doesn't have the 'slim Blu Ray' cases, they still have a similar thickness to DVD cases (which include Xbox and Xbox 360, Wii, PS2 etc.), just a different height.

Regarding the slim case you posted: either I'm blind I can't see any clips to hold manuals. While a lot of devs are ditching game instructions, you still need the Customer Support numbers, the health and safety warnings and disclaimer like that (BF3's 'manual' is a good example of this).

So unless there's a slim case with clips to hold the mandatory parts of the booklet (or people are fine without a title along the spine of the case), I don't think the slim case is going to work that well.

I don't 'hate' anything; sorry some people feel your thread topic of case size is useless.

Yes, unfortunately I read the op; along with the quoted post including dimensions. I want those few seconds of my life back.

By the way... the whole reason 360 has large cases is because of the lack of blu-ray media causing some games to come on multiple discs..... Kind of seems if the next xbox has blu-ray, which any logical person would predict, 'case size' won't be an issue... /thread

Thin cases are useless? I could easily fit 3 slim blu ray movies in place of 1 360 case.

So according to your logic, you would have prefered the music cd cases to stay thick instead of the thin ones that everyone uses now? (actually everone uses mp3 players and other electronice devices) Just trying to understand your posts. I see your other post was removed. I do appreciate that mods.

Also I do understand some game cases and movie cases are larger for more discs. That wont be able to be avoided. I just dont see the need for the thicker cases anymore since its rare any games come with manuals. They would need some sort of clip to hold some thin material. But that would be easy to fit into the case design. I think my blu ray LOTR3 movie case has some literature and its the slim case.

Of course all of this really is worthless if the rumor about digital distribution for the next gen consoles comes true. :scared:

Just sayin'.
That wasnt his first reply. The other reply was deleted because it was basically worthless spam. In fact there were 2 replies above my 2nd post that are no longer there. Post #2 was Post #4. Just sayin'. :sly:

Wow.

1- I said your thread is useless. The post that was deleted that you're trying to bring up for whatever reason simply said 'Yaaaaaaaaaaa......' So that's that. 'Just sayin' don't try to be sly because you're not. You need to learn to read.

2- According to my logic.... wtf? I said the thread is useless and now you're pulling crap out of thin air based on that statement? WOW. This thread topic and argument are entirely pointless.

bai.

Yeah, I know, I saw that post before it was deleted. That doesn't change the fact that he said he feels your thread about slim cases is useless, not slim cases themselves.

Yeah as far as thread subjects go case sizes for the next generation is pretty mundane. I can't even see IGN plunging those depths just yet.

Shall I create a thread about what type of buttons they are going to use on the consoles?

Or maybe there won't be buttons.....ooooo exciting!

How about how many USB ports they will have?

Or how long the power cable will be?

Don't forget what kind of soldering that'll be used in the next batch of consoles!

Or the really big issue of wether or not they will come with HD cables AND scart AND component cables!

Seriously though. You have obviously thought to yourself,"what can I make a thread about?". Then made one about the first thing that come to mind. If I did that, there would be some pretty weird threads round here. Lol.

Since this is going nowhere fast I'll save you all the trouble and end it here and now.

Locked.
