If you are a multi-console gamer you might have noticed the current 360 game cases are a bit thick and bulky compared to the other consoles. PS3 cases are thin, Blu Ray movie case are thin. Plus they are hardly ever sending manuals anymore. So no reason to have thick game cases. I am not sure about the hight yet. They could even be a little bit shorter but we will see.

Here is a googled pic of a slim blu ray case. 5mm = 0.19 inches. Just a little over 1/8" (0.125) thick. Thats almost 1/3 the thickness of the 360 case. You could almost fit 3 of these in place of a 360 case. lol

Download & games on demand is where it's at. I enjoy the novelty of having a game case, manuals and various trinkets with special editions, but in the end the game is what I want most. For the areas that have access to high speed internet, down loading will be a God send.

At least, that is how I see it.

I know there have been rumors of digital download games on the next gen consoles. If it doesnt happen then I think this will be the next step for Microsoft for sure. These 360 cases are quite thick compared to everything else. And taller than everything else.

Digital copies might mean no more rentals, no more trading games with friends or family, no more buying or selling used games.

We already have games on demand, although those are select titles, and Xbox Live Arcade is doing pretty well with down loads being the primary way that games are purchased. Then there are the Xbox1 titles that are available as Downloads. Most of those were difficult to find (IMO) and it is nice to see them available to purchase and play w/o venturing to the store.

I seriously think the next system will push downloads much harder than what is happening on the 360. I expect to see brand new releases hitting the DL marketplace a couple of weeks before the same game is available at retailers.

As for the cases them selves... It really depends on what the delivery medium will be. From the looks of things, the Next system will use Blu-Ray disks. But that might not be the case if jump drives get's the nod if some rumors are true. I would bet on Blu-Ray, and that would force the next system's game cases would look the same as a BRD case.

I predict a crappy first gen 720 that will undoubtedly overheat, a DVD drive that will refuse to read after specifically 23.5 hrs or 3 minutes past warranty, whichever comes first but it will be available in Playboy pink, (or maybe it's Mary Kay pink)? and a bland denim plaid design endorsed by Brittany Spears and of course, that awful white that resembles moldy cottage cheese will be a standard, no extra cost color. The additional cost black console will be replaced with a more sensitive name known as real dark white. They will all however have a large red LED lit up "X". This will be used to indicate trouble codes or what is known as "red rings of death", and have been replaced with red X-Rings of Death....except this time when your console goes haywire, the LED lights on the "X" are designed to captivate your inner senses, entertaining you with bright flashes of light designed to subliminally convince you to go buy another one. But hey, what can I say? I cant help being an optimist....lmao!:dunce:
