I'm thinking about getting this game for Xmas. I'm very particular about the games I buy because I only really ever purchase a few good ones that will keep me entertained the longest. I am having a hard time deciding based on reviews and what others have said. I am am a huge 1st gen GTer, I live and breathe Formula One.

Is it a wise purchase?
 
If you are an avid fan of Formula 1 as you say, then you'll love it, despite the bugs it may have, and the odd physics engine it has.

It's one of the best racing games I have ever played. I would advise getting it. I've had issues on the PC with it crashing during a full length race (Makes me rage...) but I think this is more compatability issues with my graphics card.
 
Three out of three. Nice. I just have high expectations with this game and I really don't want to be disapointed by another game that just lacks focus.

I am to understand it's $10 to play online, online pass bs?

If you buy the game new the it comes with the game.
 
Legend A.I ya say? Patch ya say? Sounds delightful. Done deal. On a side note I was in Gamsestop and happened to see on the top shelf F1 2011 for $39.99. Turns out it was actually supposed to be $59.99 and they had put the wrong sticker on it. My GF was getting it for me while I slept on a bench in the mall. She ended up getting it for $39.99 after a brief exchange of words with the Manager.
 
I played F12010 quite a bit but traded it in because even after it was patched there were still issues with the game that made it almost unplayable. Are there any big issues with 2011? I really enjoy a good F1 racer, the last one had a lot of potential and i hope they came through with this new one.
 
2011 has much better physics and is less buggy than 2010 was, still a few issues with the game though, some people mention the PS3 has issues with low FPS in some areas and not so great looking graphics.

I have the PC version and it works great, graphics and sounds are fantastic, physics are good for a semi-sim (it's no full simulation, the driving model is a very much improved evolution of the one from 2010) and it is generally a great, enjoyable F1 racing game.
