I seem to have gotten myself into a pickle

Ok folks, two problems. One not so much my fault, and the other totally my fault.

First off, I just got my GT5P copy in the mail. It's the euro version, and I'm in the USA. I franticly popped it into my PS3, and was greeted with an error message saying that the game can't be played at my ps3's current video output setting.. I just have your standard 3 plug compoment cable... you know, the red yellow white ones. The TV is an older standard TV, nothing special... I have a great 1080p projector coming on Wednesday, so don't bash me for my lackluster viewing equipment. But I can't just go 2 days without playing this game!!!

I think you can reset the PS3 if you hold down the standby button on the front of the console for 13 seconds.
 
Cool, thanks. I figured there's a simple answer like that. I need to run off to a business appointment in queens (it's not as flashy as it sounds... i sell service/delivery contracts for an oil company...), but I hope when I come home, somebody is going to have the magical answer that lets me play GT5P... I wasn't even expecting it today...

thanks jack, thats what I was going to do next.

my main issue now is just getting the game to work.... has anybody in america playing on a regular tv experienced this problem?
 
You can't play a european PS3 game on a US SD TV.
The resolutions are different between pal and ntsc.

The game will work once you get the hd projector, because hd is the same everywhere.
 
cj, I got mine today too-they haven't charged my card, either, at least not yet. My banker girlfriend tells me they have up to a year to do so, so I won't hold my breath. Good luck with the HDTV. See you online!
 
After you have a 1080 TV you really really can't go back to SD. Such a huge leap backwards. Like going from 2008 to 1995, you know?

Ignore all other comments.

Also, you don't have component, but composite. Component has 5 plugs, 2 red & white ones for audio, like you have now with composite...and 3 red-green-blue ones for video. You only have a yellow one.

Does your current tv have a component connection ? That might solve the problem.
If not, it's time get yourself an HD tv / projector.
 
Yeah, I knew I was calling the cord the wrong thing.


Buuuut anyway, I gave up on getting it to work on the normal TV. I figured it would be a conflict with the NTSC TV and the very basic cables I have.

Buuuuuuut luckily, we have an HDTV in the kitchen that my parents watch while they eat dinner...well, not tonight. I bought an HDMI cable on the way home, and until I have my projector on Wed, I've stolen the TV, and my GT5P is currently installed and downloading updates...

Hey, that's not that bad. I sold my 300zx to buy a 240sx and swap in a SR20DET. It's been amazing fun and a great learning experience... but wow that's off-topic. :P

I was torn between a z or a s14.5. The s14 would have been much cheaper but the z has so much more instant torque and will run on low boost (400whp / 8.5psi) Once my car is finished it will be very silvia style (aggressive offset, low, kitted) I'm actually getting ready to build a custom fiberglass bodykit this summer. :) Let me know if you have pics

i havent gotten online yet cuz the update keeps failing, plus im not driving an cars with paddle shifts yet cuz i cant figure out (or havent even tried to figure out yet) how to get the paddles on my g25 to shift
 
I found that downloading the update was one of the hardest events in the game. It should have been a super-S-class event, not a pre C-class event.

You have to put the shifter into 'Sequential' mode before the paddle shifters work.
