I have posted this in another thread already, but I don't think anybody will notice it in there. So I have decided to open a new thread. Please don't flame me, I just want some answers.

I was going to put "Finding Nemo" into my Japanese PS2 to see if it would work or not. In the back of its DVD case it said that it was indeed a dual-layered format DVD. I ended up putting it into my PS2 and I didn't get a DRE or any bizarre noise (Just ordinary game reading sounds). Sadly, it didn't allow me to play it because of some regional restriction, and the texts were written in Japanese: "Discs not allowed to play. Regional restriction" Or something like that. (Keep in mind that the movie is a real copy) So I think my PS2 is fine playing Dual-layered games. To ensure that my PS2 didn't break down after receiving that stupid message, I put in my FFX (Again, real copy) and it played normally. Although right now I feel kind of relieved, I have two questions:

1) I know "Finding Nemo" is a dual-layered DVD, but I found out that it is a 7.56 GB format. Obivously GT4 will be 8.5 GB or higher. Will I still be fine when I will be playing GT4 finally?

2) Is it normal for my PS2 to receive such a regional restriction message after playing a foreign movie in a Japanese PS2. (I know this question is kind of sensitive..." :indiff:

A Japanese PS2 is region coded 2. If your foreign DVD doesn't have the same region code it will not play.

Some older PS2's have a problem with dual layer disks when it attempts to change layers, and since the movie didn't even start yet, it probably didn't attempt to read the second layer yet so the test probably didn't prove anything. You should be fine though, since only a small percentage of PS2's have a problem with dual layer disks.

I think the best test would be to try and play Xenosaga Episode 1, seeing as thats one of the only few games that is DVD-9 and no GTA-SA isn't DVD-9.

*goes to check again*

GTA SA is made on a D9, but the game only have 4GB of useful data. the rest are dummy files

I suppose that was a piracy measure, well rather a lame one seeing as dummy files are easily removed. Well Xenosaga is still a true DVD-9 game using up the whole disk with actual content.

i trued a concert that i downloaded from internet
it is 7.85GB and i burned on DVD+R DL disk
and i tired to play in my PS2 ( i usually play DVD disk on dvd- player rather than PS2)
