Before the games release, I was in the hype-line with everyone else. Couldnt wait to get this game. So now that I got it and beat the first novice championship races, I realize I think I might have bought the wrong version of FM2. I think I got FM 1.5!

The graphics in the game are not a huge leap in next.gen graphics you come to find in sequels for the 360. It still looks the same! i mean not exactly, but just a bit better than FM1. You guys remember the hype about the game will be running at 60fps? At the time, even I was always skeptical about that. Even before the games release, I knew in some part of the gameplay it was not going to be running at 60fps. So on my first race in the game, i went ahead and pretty much waited for the framedrops. Countdown begins, accelerate and race. No slow downs. Notice the game looked so much better running at a higher framerate and no 2-4fps reflection rendering on the car was gone! So after I win the race, i immediatly check out the replay and BAMM a hidden powerful super ultra mega uppercut outta nowhere. the magical 60fps are GONE! I thought I hit a degrader button by accident or something. I mean if the developers didnt mention the game will be running at 60fps in every article they posted, i wouldnt make such a big deal about it. To me it was kinda like having Vida Guerra show up to your house wanting to do something naughty then vanish into thin air. (google image her, if you dont know who this is)

I browsed thru a couple of manufactuers in the game and on seen a handful of new vehicles. vehicles to me still handle the same. The only 2 real differences I see are the sound and the new photo mode
(where have i seen this before?)

The car sounds are awesome, nuff said. As for the photomode, I havent really tried it seeing how I abused it when GT4 came out with it first.

Dont get me wrong, I dont hate the game. Its just I expected LOTS more.

Now back to playing Forza 1.5

Well I suppose the same could be said of GT4 over GT3 (and I certainly was one of those critics), but I'm happy with the game although the point about the car models being almost the same as Forza 1 is very true - and what's with all the tuner ITRs, Skylines and Supras etc?

Not particularly. They were both on the same console, so I personally wasn't expecting a major improvement.

Forza 2 is on a next-generation console, so I will be expecting a big change from Forza. From the demo so far, the graphics have only been improved moderately, and the same for the physics. I can see why people are disappointed more than the GT3/GT4 comparisons.

I've yet to play the game to fully find out though...

While I agree, the graphics are not that huge leap fowards withm the not being as good as last years Projoect Gotham 3, they are good enough imo. As for the handling, the gaems physics are vastly imrpoved over FM1 and this is a major plus for me. The customisation is improved as well. A sequel shouldn't just be about content, while content has a place FM2 has laid the foundation for a better game than FM1 first and then worked on the rest.

I'm with Dave A. I have yet to play it, but if the handling really is as improved as he says, then it has my seal of approval, especially with the kickass engine/drivetrain swaps and diverse car selection. The game could have Hard Drivin' graphics for all I care.

About the framerate -- you bought an XBOX. What do you expect? For whatever reason, XBOX developers consider 60fps as more of a luxury than a target. That's why the original XBOX versions of multi-platform games were always overloaded with special effects and ran like crap compared to the PS2/GCN versions.

I actually thought the same thing until I played PGR3 again. Yes, the textures look better than FM2, but not much else. The draw distance was worse, the game was 30fps, and the cars looked worse. Yes, it isn't leaps and bounds better than PGR3, but it's definitely better.

Maybe I'll have to dig up my old copy of PGR3 then 👍.
