Yeah. I forgot to give an update to everyone. So yeah, I went to court on the 7th of this month to find out just how much trouble I was in. So, I checked out of school around 2:00pm and my mom and I drove down to the county courthouse. I went in and sat down, and waited for my turn to come around. When they called my case number and stuff, my mother and I went up to the stand. The GSP officer was standing a few feet away at the other stand. The judge asked me a bunch of questions and pretty much busted my balls worse than the cop had done the day he pulled me over. She then proceeded to bust my mothers balls for letting me drive with no license. Finally, it came time to get dealt with, or so I thought...

My crime:

No License
Exhibition of speed
Wreckless driving
No insurance

My punishment:

$10

Lucky bastard. Wish that would happen to me sometimes. I usually get the book thrown at me.

Consider yourself lucky, and I'm glad it worked out for you.

Dam dude, I wish I woulda had your luck, that is when my license wasn't suspended. Here's my tally for tickets:

Excessive Speeding
Excessive Speeding
Excessive Speeding
Wreckless Driving: Drifting on Public Roads
Wreckless Driving: Drifting on Public Roads
Speeding
Excessive Speeding
Speeding
Wreckless Driving: Drifting on Public Roads

Well, keep up the good work bro, don't be me.

You having learning issues toyomatt84?

That's not what I'm having, it's cop-learning issues. They won't understand that, no matter how fast I drive, I am still safer than any other driver near them. So I think they're the ones with the learning issues.

Apart from that 'law' thing, right.

Oh - by the way, people - the word is RECKLESS, not wreckless.

Ahhh...Yesss, the invincibility complex.

I'd like to offer you one small piece of advice. If you're going to drive like that, at least have enough insurance to cover teh lawsuit when it happens. I'd hate to see your parents lose their house because you killed someone.

Just curious, but what is your insurance bill currently?

Just be thankful you don't live in England. You'd never be seen again if you did that here.

So, five speeding convictions and two "drifting" convictions. Is it OK if I keep coming round to your house and nicking your stuff? Because, you know, the cops won't learn that I'm just better at getting into people's houses. And I should have more stuff, because, you know, I'm special, and it's the world's fault that they don't know this!

Two words: Track Day.

Because one day, it's not going to be the radar that catches, you, it's going to be the rear-impact bar of the semi that pulled out on the straight that's after the corner you just "drifted" around.

Plus, there is no need for hate, I just drive fast. That is all you need to know.

I don't hate you. I think your driving history marks you out as an idiot behind the wheel, and as a consequence I'm glad I don't live anywhere near you. But I don't hate you.

I thought I was invincible once...then crashed twice in as many months
I dont think I'm invincible anymore needless to say :)

Still cop fines for speeding every now and then, but thats just me (aint got one for wreckless driving ever, just to heavy a right foot)

$10 fine?!? be thankful you dont live over here...

Insurance? He doesn't need insurance, he's the best driver in the world. How could he ever get in an accident.

Yikes! You're lucky you're not an adult, driving without a license can have severe penalties in Florida. Depending on a cop's mood and how nice a judge you get, it can cost you anywherte from $100 to 90 days in jail.

Exactly. 👍

Jacksonville power!! :D

Yeah, when I heard the judge say the fine would be $10 my jaw dropped. I quickly shut it back though. I was expecting my license to be taken away until I'm 18 or hundreds on dollars in fines. The Georgia State Patrol officer dude didn't say a damn thing either. Actually, he just walked over and talked to my mom for a bit and then left. Heh.

I must say, after getting a scare like that I've driven so carefully. I don't do anymore than 5mph over the speedlimit anywhere. I never thought about gettig stopped until I actually did get stopped. Good thing though, I might have ended up killing myself.

My mom has a really good friend who happens to be a cop. He's one of those easy ging, let ya off the hook kind of cops. He's not a GSP officer, he's just a city cop. But my mom was talking with him, and he said that if he caught an unlicensed 16 year old doing 85mph in a 45mph zone with no insurance and everything, that he would have dug that person a hold so deep that he would have never gotten out. Those words came from a super easy cop. He said that the GSP offcier that stopped me, must have seen I was a good kid or something, because he should have dealt with me 10x worse than what he did.

But yay. I paid my $10 and I kept my license. (Got in on the 1st of October by the way.) w00tness?

:)

omg! not even in mexico, dude. here something like that would have nabbed me some... maybe $80, and, ergh -__- $20 more for the cops

Cano

licky lucky

I get fined that much for forgetting to put my parking pass up in my window at school...

No offence meant, but DUH!

A speed limit is a speed limit - not a speed target. Try driving 5mph UNDER the speed limits for a while...

I live in Maryland. I mean I don't drive wreckless, in my oppinion anyway, but I do drive a bit fast. No speeding tickets as of yet though. And because of my record with the law (if part of my past on my permanent record) I will have the book thrown at me, maybe I should slow down :indiff:

No offence intended to you directly, but this superfluous "W" lark is really starting to piss me off.

Funnily enough, the offence you will be cited for in the UK if you are speeding is probably "Reckless Driving"... Maybe "Dangerous Driving" if you go too fast, or "Driving Without Due Care And Attention" possibly.

I was having a bit of a think about this topic yesterday (I was sanding the walls in the pantry, not the most mentally fulfilling task).

For those of you who drive at high speeds, thinking you're far superior to other drivers, consider the following.

The Government has actually told you a bit of a fib when saying that speed causes accidents. In reality, in car-to-car collisions, speed differential is actually the major reason for car accidents. That's why speed limits are lower in more crowded areas - it's not appropriate to have cars doing 60mph in an area where traffic is stopping and parking a lot.

Also, consider this. As you probably recall from getting your license, and from any advanced driver training courses you might have done, one thing that is pushed heavily is 'driving to the conditions'. Wet, slippery, dark, all conditions that need to be taken into account. Fine.

So, given that speed differentials are a leading cause of car accidents, and that you should be driving to the conditions, I contend that you are not a better driver, even if you think you are, if you drive at a higher speed than the surrounding traffic. I contend that you are ignoring the fundamental principle of driving to the conditions - the conditions including the speed, and driving standards, of the surrounding traffic.
