... around 2014; then the Xbox kicked it. Hadn't played anything in years. Then a coupla weex ago I went crazy and got on the ole horse again.
'Cept, it's not the same ole hoss...! Holy ****!
Finally the rush from getting thru the Ford Menu truck races moves me to share. There are times this game inspires in me this hand-atrophying sense of dread, "I'm never gettin thru this ******!" But we take a break, we go in the mental mansion and we find the old tuning files, and we get to it.
That truck race made me relearn tuning, or I was never getting thru it! I FLIPPED MY TUNDRA! My liveried, supercharged prize heifer! At Colorado Springs, is it? YO! I have flipped another car previously and from embarrassment didn't save it, and now I've forgotten what happened that time. I didn't save this replay either, but I'm not gonna forget this flip. It looks cool as **** as it's happening. WTF? Did the car just flip? WTF!!!! GT7, THEY FLIP!!!!! AAAAHAHAHAHAHHHH!!!!!
But, Tuning. Let's just go... WAH, WAH, WAH. Livery - it's a truck; I needed all the hyping I could get - and power parts, no chassis support.
Try it for yourselves; it's hilllarious! and so futile not worth expanding on rite now.
So, the obvious 1st. Slow revving - CRT High. It will bounce but only for a sec1\2; at this tite, snakey track, it's handy.
HMMM, too early for me to start fussin with 4WD LSD when I'm still feeling out the torque splitter. I found a different way of thinking about the torque split: In GT4 I would use high torque to the front to give me this pulling-on-the-nose effect. Weeell, I started engaging it that way in this case but I noticed the subtle but noticeable effect the 50:50 split had on my control: Oversteer wasn't as violent! Sending torque forward doesn't merely give the front wheels power to move; now the power rush to the rear becomes more manageable.... HMMM!!!! Less power, but it's not wasted; the front is handling way better too!
HMMM, yeah, that's not all due to the torque split. I had to do the suspension. I've found this to be consistent so far: TOE IN helps a jittery, darty front catch the bit. And now that it's split so fine, into 10ths of degrees, not the piddlin lil bit the custom rig bring dialed in. I soon found anything less than .25deg isn't worth the test lap. Haven't had to reach 1 whole deg yet, but let's see; I'm at 28%...
So, the other even bigger problem is the Tundra BUCKS! I need stability, but (from the box), the springs are too stiff, due to the low ride weight. Raise the truck? That increases weight transfer... But the torque splitter is helping with that....
That program worked! Ride height up softens the springs a bit, but I didn't neglect to soften the damping a bit. My driving benefits from the rebound being just strong enuff to hold the car rite, yet allow the whole chassis to settle into a stable attitude AND HOLD IT while long-braking or thru a long corner where you gotta ride the gas gently.
Camber I was ready to jack up, but comes at 3deg from the box. Feels like enuff so far.
HEEEYYY!!!! AHH!!! IT WORKED!!! Got thru it; got 2nd, and felt good. Got my prizes and OUT!
And now I'm here. Another voice in the wilderness, looking for a big blue sign that says, "HOME"...
