Been thinking about this for a while, but an online Touristfahrten needs to be on PD's mind.

Think about it -- most online-centric games now have a hub where players can hang/meet before a game. In GTSport 3 or GT8 -- this could be the Nordschliefe car park. Players will pick a car and spawn at the car park. They can have the ability to view other cars in the car park or perhaps view the action on track (would be cool to have fixed cameras where the spectators in real life would be). Then when the players feel like it, they simply start the car and go on track. The main thing though would be the car count. Hopefully the later generations of consoles along side cloud tech would allow for a field of 100 cars for the real touristfahrten experience.

I really hope ideas like these are on the cards for the future. Online track days with other players interactivity would be so cool.

Don't get me wrong, this is a must for RPGs/FPSs where there are vendors and shops etc. But for gran turismo? I want to spend as much time as possible behind the wheel, not in the car park.

This sort of thing is in the Forza Horizon series. It might be in NFS too, not sure. You can explore the livery and tunes, downloading either if you want. With the huge variety of cars and/or tuning, there's a lot to see.

I mean, I like it, but it doesn't really fit within the GT atmosphere IMO, at least with Sport, in its current form. You'd either have a smattering of stock cars (well, with exception to rims and liveries), or the same small range of Group cars.

So yeah, if the next GT is more like the ones of old (a car culture encyclopedia), I think it'd be a great addition. 👍

I support this idea 100%. Besides racing, one of my favorite things about Gran Turismo’s online community is the custom car scene. The golden age of GT’s car scene was the era of hybrid cars in GT5. Thousands of cars were running engine, drivetrain, and chassis swaps, to name a few. Sadly, this only existed for a brief period. We still haven’t gained any physical customization tools from PD, but the livery editor has brought out the community’s creativity once again.

Car meets are a great way to see what players are capable of creating. It seems like there is always at least one car show lobby open, which is helpful when I need inspiration for my own livery projects. I prefer to find designs through lobbies than the “Discover” menu because I feel more connected when chatting with people around me.

Great idea, but this won't really work with Sport. If the next Gran Turismo (GT7/GT8) is along the lines of the old ones (GT1-->GT6) then I would see such a thing happen.
Seeing as GT Sport should have ~500 cars at the end of its cycle, then the next GT game (which will be on the PS5, mind you) might have a couple hundred more.
Add to that visual customization, the old tuning system, and the possibility of engine and drivetrain swaps, and voilà, you have stupid levels of potential for online lobbies that are always unique in their own way.

What they should do is let you practice together on the track. One huge lobby with scheduled races. Your best practice lap before each race (or best lap of the previous race) determines your start position. Not set one flying lap, live off it the rest of the day. Shake it up a bit.

This is kinda like what Kazunori Yamauchi wanted to do, create a virtual city where you could drive around in it and talk to others in the city.
Remember the main menu in GT2?
You had that map with "East city" "north city" and the like.
Imagine if that was an actual playable map?
A GT world, where all the different manufacturers are located in the different cities, with highways and touges and dirt roads in between, and you could still have all the real world tracks you want, you just drive to the GT world airport and fly to the Nurburgring, or Suzuka, or Daytona.
However, city streets to drive in would mean street racing, and as cool as A Gran Turismo open world street racing game would be, i don't think Mr. Yamauchi would approve
But if we're talking pipe dreams here, id also like to add avatars that you can walk around as, get in and out of cars and possibly make some car repair mini games. Also, it would be nice if we could buy garages within this fictional city to store and display our cars.
Basically, i want PD to turn GT into a "CarPG"

Buy assetto corsa, go online and open a lobby with touristschleife .... There you have the parking to start and take a break whenever you want and the posibilty to look others driving (only in the camera your car is at that moment )

The lobby is only for 16 players, but on dedicated servers...
Servers with lobbies up to 100 players require real big hardware, not even high end PC's have Sims with servers where you can open lobbies up to 100 players ..

Lobbies like those of Pcars 2 on PC with lobbies up to 32 players would already be quite nice on consoles .. Let's see if it comes possible with PS5..
