GTPlanet is huge. largest gran turismo community in the internet. almost 90000 members. still, with those overwelming numbers, i never saw any kind of interaction with PD.

i thought of this thread because i think we have here lots of valid discussions about the upcoming GT games. it would be a shame, and a major waste of time if nobody listen to those ideas, and if we keep the info to ourselves.

i´m also part of other fan-based forums, like operation sports and NBAliveforums (yes, i know the game sucks lately:yuck: ) and in those foruns we get a lot of good things by talking straight with the developers. the guy that founded that NBA live fan site, today is the head producer of live ´07.

we have interviews, wishlists, things like that. its so much better when you have this kind of dialogue. you really feel a part of the game, you´re actually helping make the game better.

PD seems to me like that distant, gigantic developer in japan that we know almost nothing and have very little info in the game until it hit the stores...

developers must know and take it in consideration what the consumers think about their products. so this thread is a place for discussing what can we do, to get our ideas across to PD.

how can we stablish this dialogue?
how do we make sure that they read our thoughts and explains us why some things are in the game and some others not?

look at the amazing effort by some of the threads here, like the car wishlist. i bet german muscle will try to send this to PD, but the way they look at this depends on a stablished contact between PD and GTP. i think we would gain a lot by being recognized by the developers of our beloved game...

any ideas on how can we make this happen?

We can't! They may come and read some things here, but there's never been a direct contact if I'm not mistaken.

And to discuss what we'd like and not like in future GTs, isn't that the purpose of other threads in the GT5-section already?

The bottom line is we can't do anything. We can send endless e-mails to some secretary at Sony or even PD who will send a thank you reply but delete the e-mail or we can just keep posting idea on here and hope there are Sony rep's keeping tabs on this place.

In terms of sending PD ideas for GT, Sony has a policy to not accept them from third parties unless under contract. So if you send an idea to Sony, they won't accept it. This free's them of any legal implications should some numpty decide to take them to court after the games release because they never paid him for using idea x.

Very true. So about all we can hope for is that a few of our posters will be brilliant and think of one or two things that the Polyphony team hasn't. But I have to say that most of our ideas are merely good to great. Polyphony Digital is staffed with some amazing people, and I doubt that all but a few of our ideas are things they haven't thought of already.

Take my Career Mode idea. Two or three other people have thought of it on their own. But how original is it? It's based on real life in the racing world, and Kazunori-sama has mentioned some things in interviews since GT3 that he intended to put as much real life racing as he can in Gran Turismo, so I bet he beat me to my idea by years. Now that he says he has a system which will let him realize entire worlds, I'm hopeful that Career Mode in some form manifests in GT5. That would indeed be a dream come true.

There is no (published) direct way to e-mail PD. After all, for every genius idea they hadn't thought of (which they then either have to scrub or change for fear of Intellectual Property theft) there's almost eleventy twelve billionty million "how abut u put da ferrari f40 in gt5 it is wel phat!!!!!" ideas.

PD and SCEE do - or at least people who are in their employ - read this site. As we are the largest and most comprehensive resource anywhere on the internet for Gran Turismo - and #1-rated site (by Alexa rankings) for the #1-selling game on the #1-selling console - if I didn't already know it for a fact, I'd be betting on it.

All we can do is post our ideas. And this is the forum in which to do that.

Just imagine if Kazunori Yamauchi went to Ken Kutaragi, or Ken went to Kaz with some printouts of posts on here calling for the release of Gran Turismo HD as an early title. "In the GT5 and PS3 sections, 20% said they will not buy a PS3 until Gran Turismo is available for it. 30% favor the release of an interim Gran Turismo over a long wait for GT5."

So here we are, looking forward to Gran Turismo Series at the Tokyo Game Show. Maybe we had a hand in that. It's fun to imagine it went that way. ;)

true. if somebody reads, then its already a great thing. not at the same level of interactivity of operationsports, but at least its something.

i guess that fact that we are a english written board helps to distanciate us from PD a little... i know very few members from japan here...

anyway, lets hope they include some kind of feedback in GT5. like the racing mods, which is something that nearly every GT fan wants back.

Im sensing some deja vous with this thread! .......

Its been propsed many times before for PD to listen to GTPlanet but seriously and sadly they wont listen to anyone!...... this is because everyone will want different things and it will all end up a mess and back where it started..... its realatively pointless.

Sure they will come and visit here, I suspect some members here actaully work for sony..... 'im looking at you punk!' but its only do basically get free market research... only if something is seriously wanted by all and its a real problem they may consider looking into it further.....
