Idiot guide to friend needed

Do you mean remove them from your friend's list or retract a friend request that has not been accepted yet?
If removing, just scroll down to their name on the XMB menu after you sign into PSN and hit triangle to bring up the menu and start the deleting process.
If you sent a FR and it hasn't been accepted yet, you should find a FR message in your Sent box off of the XMB. Just find it and delete it. 👍
EDIT: Ah, OK, to send a FR:
1. If in-game online, click on their name from the list in the server.
2. If at the XMB menu (main PS3 menu), try to find their name in the recent list and hit triangle to bring up the menu.
3. If their name is not there, then you start a new Friend Request message and type in their handle exactly as it appears on PSN and send it.
Just FYI, but you can edit your posts, when you need to add something or make a correction. The forum frowns on double-posting, as it can be used to increase post count (if you're into that sort of thing) and it clutters up a thread. It's also against the site AUP that you agreed to when joining. 👍
