... how come the last sip of a cocktail always tastes the strongest?

Is it the way you tilt and sip it that leaves the alcohol til the end, or is it just placebo? I thought I would be able to answer this, with bartending certification and all, but I really don't know. Strange.

I think so. I know if you drink with a straw you'll get drunker faster. So maybe that is why.

Alcohol is less dense than water, but since the two are miscible, they will mix evenly regardless. In juice, there are small particles/solids which absorb some of the alcohol, and then settle to the bottom (same reason that the last sip of cocoa/coffee tastes like monkeybutt). Of course, if you didn't nurse it, you wouldn't notice :D.

Drinking with a straw gets you drunk faster because you dont get any air in your mouthfuls and thus you drink more with a mouthful compared to normal.

I think..

Drinking with a straw does not get you drunk faster.
