If Porsche were added tomorrow, which 16 cars do you think they should add?

So let's say that somehow the Porsche license was made available to Polyphony and they were to suddenly add Porsches to the game tomorrow. To make it more interesting, let's say they added the same number of cars that Ferrari has, 16 total. Or, to get really specific, 13 road cars and 3 race cars (I'm counting the FXX as a race car, since it's not street legal).

road legal
356 Super 2000
911 Classic RS
911 (964) Turbo
911 (993) GT2
911 (996) GT2
911 (997) GT2 RS
Cayman S '15
Carrera GT
Boxter S '00
918 Spyder production version
959
911 (996) GT1 Road going version
911 Speedster from 90s
991 (991) GT2

Race cars
550 A Spyder
918 RSR
962 C

I cheated :D

How can you miss out the most iconic racing Porsche of all time - the 917 ?

I would pick the 917 short tail with a range of liveries
917 Can Am
908

With Porsche being such a race oriented brand I would rather have 13 race cars and 3 road cars - I won't list 13 race cars, just 3 as requested.

The three most significant of the road cars would be in my opinion:

The original 911
A current 911
911 Turbo - first version

For my picks, I'll start with the three race cars:

1. 1985 Porsche 956 (because it's the Porsche model with the most overall wins at Le Mans). (1983 version pictured below, 'cause it looks better. :) )

porsche-956-1.jpg

2. 2014 Porsche 911 RSR (3rd place in class at the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans and the current racing 911)

headimage1.jpg

3. I feel like I should say the 919 Hybrid, but given its performance so far this year... I think I'll go with a more sentimental choice of the 1996 Porsche 911 GT1, which took 1st in the GT1 class and 2nd overall at the 1996 24 Hours of Le Mans, and which I've always thought just looks really cool. :)

EDIT: Ack. Forgot the 918. Whoops. :banghead: Okay, removing the 993 911 and swapping in the 918.

EDIT2: Ya know, I said, "remove the 993" and I ended up removing the 997 instead. Whoops. I also had no GT2, which I feel I should rectify. :)

The OP's list is pretty good, except instead of all those GT2's, I'd rather see a few street GT3's (including the 4.0L) and a race version of the GT3, the GT3 R and/or RSR. I am such a big fan of GT3 racing and I absolutely love the street legal GT3... Natural Aspiration all the way! 👍

I would think that PD would add a classic car like the 356 or the Targa???
I'd honestly love to see a representation of each model (and each generation of each model) in Porsche's history—from the 356 through to the 918. But I figured, if Polyphony couldn't manage to get more than 16 Ferraris into the game, it'd be a little crazy to expect them to have 50+ Porsches. :)

I would also expect them to bias their selection toward current models, for a variety of reasons. (We don't see any Ferraris from the 1940s or 1950s.)

Just three race cars? Ferrari ought to have more than that to begin with, but that is very off topic lol. It's hard to pick just three.

This list could be endless
Yeah. I mean, really, imagine if I'd said, "As many Porsches as there are Nissans." :) (Or as many 911s as there are Skylines/GT-Rs.)

Sadly Porsches in GT will not happen any time soon.
It sure seems that way. :(

EDIT: Apparently, there's 151 Nissans, if anyone was wondering. :) (Never mind other makes that are actually Nissans, like NISMO.)

2. 964 Turbo S

Well this is embarrassing: I didn't even know there was a 964 Turbo S! :O (And it looks like it had 56 more HP than the standard Turbo's 320, too.)

5. '72 911 Turbo (Magnus Walker Edition)
I'm gonna be honest—I have no idea what this is. :) To my understanding, there were no turbocharged 911s prior to the '75 930 Turbo. But, as evidenced by the 964 Turbo S, I'm definitely not equipped with an extensive encyclopedic knowledge of everything Porsche. :)

Ya know, I have to assume that some of those would be allowed in GT6 without a Porsche license (like RUF). But maybe not. I guess it depends upon how the manufacturers are registered with their native governments.

hopefully they wouldn't and get added in GT6 or even GT7 at some point

I don't really understand the hate (or lack of love) for the first gen Cayman (987). It's a simpler and purer driving experience than the (softened up) 981. To heck with the 2015 Cayman GTS, most Porsche drivers prefer the 2012 Cayman R.

Not that I'm biased or anything...:D
