I'm convinced that most Westerners who tried to live in Japan would find it very difficult. Their culture is very regimented and rigid compared to any American or European culture, which might be why they have to make everything into a cultish religion, even cartoons and motor sport.

It's impossible to access anything concerning the American Constitiution from a Chinese computer,... umong A LOT of other things.

They showed a program about Westeners who live in Japan. All the people who came from England had jobs as English teachers, so i'm assuming its also quite hard to get a job as well.

Well some Americans do that *cough AE86Driver *cough* but I suppose that is Japanese influence.

I would like to visit Japan though, I like my lazy uncultured western ways a bit too much to stay.

Oh.

Well there is that as well, mind you there was a big fuss when an English girl went missing. Apparently it had something to do with an escort *cough* service.

You know I never think about Japans negative side, I always associate it with technology and all that usual cultural crap. I suppose Japan has its ****ty parts just like everywhere else.

Which Carolina?;)

*tip: SC > NC:D *

Haven't decided yet. I need to do research on the job market, schools, etc. before choosing. Plus, it always helps to visit the place you intend to live! :p

I'm sure it does but no where near as much as North America or Europe. I remember an anthropology professor of mine describing why crime in Japan is practically non-existent said: "If you commit a crime in Japan you will get caught." He contrasted this to America where you probably won't, at least not the first (few) time(s).

Lotsa unwritten rules. Studying Japanese made me realize, the more I knew about Japan's language and culture, the less I understood it.

That's not to say it isn't fascinating; I'd love to spend a month or two there. But it's more alien than Mars to Westerners and the flight is probably more painful than a root canal if you fly coach.

Depends on when type of plane you are flying on. A 747 wouldnt be to bad, but a C-5 military transport on the other hand...

The flight is only 17 hours, about 4 or so than flying from Orlando to London.

17 hours! Longest i've flown is 14 hours.

Puerto Ricans, but when you get a bunch of them yapping in spanish at a million miles an hour, it makes your head want to explode.

English is the official language of the United States, which happens to include Puerto Rico, which, coincidentally, celebrated its 50th year as a U.S. territory last year.

You could bug me. I'm quite sure you'll never find vat-man's house, because it's hidden far underground, where no GTPers could ever find it.
