If you max out the downforce of the X2011 does it get slower?

But other people have reported on other cars, that maxing out the downforce on them does not slow them down at all.

Is it because the downforce figures for normal cars are pretty low?

Well normal cars have not much downforce, but as the X2010/X2011 has so much, it affects the top speed massively.
 
actully if You tune the ratio's right and put full downforce on the back You can wheelie the redbull at about 250mph and make it reach a speed of 300mph plus with no draft.

I broke 300mph in it last night by just dropping the downforce to minimum on both the front and the rear.
 
Ya I use full downforce on tracks with short straights because you can only reach around 240mph compared to 300mph with no downforce.
 
It's a physics thing.....and GT is pretty much true-to-life........speed has a direct relation to downforce......the faster the car goes the more downforce is applied. As more force is applied downward (due to higher settings and more speed) this increases stability but also increases friction which in turn decreases speed at the same time (this is more prominent in rear-wheel drive and 4wd cars)......you can counteract that by increasing the settings on the last two gears in the tranny to compensate.

(as a footnote for you to understand it better: at higher speeds the air rushing under a car pushes it upward which makes the tyres have less contact with the road....spoilers create downforce which counteract this upward push by "forcing" the car back down for the tyres to get back better traction)

It horribly wrong, probably among the least accurate aerodynamics models in existence.

Friction has nothing to do with downforce speed losses. Drag causes less speed.

The effect should a lot more for all cars.

Half true. More force is created. It can be downforce or lift.

This would usually generate downforce. You get lift from the air going over the top of the car.

Indy oval
Daytona oval
Daytona road (?)
Tokyo 246

Note: Min downforce is not always the answer either. Sometimes the best laps come from somewhere in the middle with the X1. Ironically, despite most of the crazy "the X1 is not realistic" arguments, it's the only one that requires close to realistic testing to get proper aero).

I did 315 down the long straight of La Sarthe without a draft, let alone another vehicle, in the X2011, first try. This is another showing of the better aerodynamics.
 
I've gone 340+ MPH in the Vettel X2010 (doing a wheelie :scared: ) no draft, with max rear downforce, minimum front downforce, and tweaked ratios. If you're doing long, oval-type racing, lower the downforce, if you'll be going through really tight corners with short straights, max it out.
