I have been trying for weeks to get the update to work, and finally got so fed up, I started doing some PS3 house keeping. So, if you are like me, and still have problems with the update, try what I did. :dopey:

Go into your PS3's 'Game Data Utility' and find GT5p's data. Delete it. Then re-boot GT5p. Should clear up any problems you're having. 👍

Man, I got my download on the first try no problem, I feel bad for everyone who had serious problems downloading the update.

I did exactly that and I still can't complete the update. It gets halfway through, then goes to an error message. I have the JPN version, btw.

Worse still, I can't access any of my previous saves cos they're for GT5P Spec II, and now I'm back to the very first build of the game from Dec 07.

What's goin' on? Is updating a very common problem for this new version? Never had this problem before. I haven't played for awhile, so I'm clueless.

Hi,

My suggestion (I didn't had similar problems but I think it should work) is that you copy your save data onto a disk on key, then delete everything !!! related to GT5P (game save, previous installation, system etc.), then boot up GT5P.
Now it will try to download everything from scratch. My opinion is that there is some bug in which the "downloaded" part is not handling well of part-over-part (different updates), but a full download will be easier for the game.
According to PD themselves they improved the downloading so my guess this error is related to that. I assume that the next update will me much easier for all.

P.S. Let us know the results...

Do this. And also delete the game data again so you have a clean start. GOOD LUCK!

OK, guys. I've tried all your suggestions, but still no luck. I'm especially upset cos it seems like my saves are gone when i looked for them in the game save folder (not the game system file folder) to copy them out. I couldn't find any Spec II save games, only replays. I only managed to find one file that wasn't a replay file, but it was lt was 100kb in size and it didn't have the Spec II label on it.

So not only is my Spec II gone, so are my saves...

*tears hair out*

For what it's worth. I tried updating a few times this weekend and it failed pretty quickly each time. I switched from a wireless connection to a wired connection and it worked on the first try.

Just to update you guys, I gave up on my JPN version. All my saves are gone anyway and I had to start from scratch, so I got the US version and updated on the first try.

I needed a good excuse to get the English version anyway, aside from wanting to watch 'Beyond the Apex' (which was disappointing, btw).

Thanks to all that tried to help.

I still can't update. Or at least, couldn't last time I tried. I'll try the data-delete trick.

Make sure you locate your game save files before you delete anything. There are 2 folders, one for game data and one for game saves. I dunno what I did wrong, but I deleted my game data, but couldn't find my game save in the other folder after that. I still dunno what I did wrong.
