Away with the old, in with the new!
Welcome to IGTRC's Impreza Challenge (presented by Castrol)! After the breathtaking teaser of the soon-to-come downloadable content (coming October 18th), we will be taking advantage of the new Subaru Impreza Touring Car which comes in the pack ($11.99 total). The new Subaru Impreza Touring Car is a race-ready, numbered, sponsored touring car like the many others in the DLC pack, and will certainly provide red-hot action and unbelievable passes! I hope you join us!
Critical Information
We race on various Saturdays, usually every other Friday, at various tracks, both fictional and real. We race at 8:00 U.S. Eastern Time. There are various methods of finding out what time that will be for YOU, but a simple, flawless method to find your time is this handy website (just pick a city near to you): http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
You MUST purchase the Subaru Impreza Touring Car through the DLC on the PSN network. It has obviously not yet been released, but you should purchase it as soon as possible.
Also, my schedule can be extremely unpredictable, so willing moderators for races I can't attend I would HIGHLY APPRECIATE!
Also, we will be running in an online room. A post with the room number will be added to the second post on this thread in large letters. ONLY official race posts are posted on the second post in red. Other private practice sessions will be posted elsewhere.
Your entry form should follow this format...
GTP ID: _______________
PSN ID: _______________
Number: ___
Car Color: _____________
Team Name: ________________ (YOU SHOULD NOT FILL THIS OUT INTO WE GET A SIXTEEN CAR ENTRY LIST)
Regarding teams, you will not fill that space out (obviously) in the very beginning. We must wait for a full sixteen to post their entry before you choose teams. Why? Because we don't want any confusion or anyone left without a teammate, constantly scanning the thread for a possible teammate. I've observed that many times when teams are involved, there is a lot of chaos and unorganized chat. To improve that specific deal, we will be picking teams in an orderly fashion after we've weeded out sixteen people to enter. Also, only two people can be in a team.
The last thing you'll want to know is, since your schedule is tight with jobs, family, and other private businesses, I will allow you FOUR (out of ten) DROP RACES! That elasticity cannot be found anywhere else other than here, friends!
Schedule
(This schedule is subject to change)
- Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca --- October 28, 2011
- Suzuka Circuit (East Course) --- TBA

When online, you are expected to follow the following standards...
- Microphones or similar must be unplugged and/or turned off.
- Random entrants will be ejected from the room. If members of the race recognizes a driver I do not, they will be allowed to participate.
- Vulgar or suggestive conduct on and offline will simply not be tolerated. A permanent banning will insue, and not only will you be banned, but reported to the GTPlanet staff, also.
- A room will be opened within a ten minute window. Qualifying will immediately begin, and if someone misses qualifying altogether, they will be forced to start the race at the end of the grid. If a late driver attempts a qualifying run after I've said written "RETURN TO THE PITS IMMEDIATELY", they will be ejected from the room.
Race/Car Specs
You are forced to comply with the following regulatory specifications.
- BODY/CHASSIS: Completely stock except for a chassis makeover at GT Auto (weight remains the same, aerodynamic efficiency remains the same, a chassis stiffening at the tuning shop is strictly forbidden)
- ENGINE: Completely stock (no modifications, no turbo, etc.)
- SUSPENSION: Fully adjustable (you can modify it as much as needed)
- TRANSMISSION: Completely stock (in the replay, I can tell if the gearing is different)
- TIRES: Racing Mediums OR (in wet conditions) Intermediates or Wets
So you know, the rest of the standards that can be directly controlled in the lobby include...
- TRANSMISSION: Optional
- TIRES: Mediums, Wets, or Intermediates
- DRIVING LINE: Off
- ANTI-LOCK BRAKE: Optional
- TC: Optional
- OTHER DRIVING AIDS: Off
- DAMAGE: Heavy
(Other specific Spec 2.0 settings for online rooms will be announced soon)
The room will open at 8:00 and qualifying (1 hour) will immediately begin. At 9:00, I will reset the room, and the race will go to the grid. All cars will speed up to approximately 50 MPH and not go too fast over it. Swerving is strictly forbidden, as it could ruin someone's race. The leading driving is only allowed to speed up when he meets the start/finish line. An early start will result in a time penalty. If you get damaged on the pace lap, you have every right to carefully pass everyone else and head straight to pit lane to repair the damage. However, you MUST hold at a dead stop at the end of pit out until the leader passes you (you can monitor this effectively on the ranking board on the side). A 2010 Chevrolet Camaro RM pace car may be a fancy option for the starts, but only the first reserve list driver can operate it. They must watch from the sidelines after that. Also, a race will be moved if seven or more drivers don't show up by the end of qualifying.
OVERTAKING
Since it is NOT multi-class racing, lapping will probably not occur. But if it does, it is the faster car's job to get by the slower car. However, I, or any other driver, will not hold for aggressive, deliberate blocking. Penalties are confirmed to insue.
The rights to a corner go to the overtaking driver if he is half-way or more alongside the other car and he has the inside line. If he is on the outside line, he doesn't have the right to overtake. If it is curving back-and-forth section of track, it's up to the driver to report an incident they felt unfair and then it's the stewards' job to find the moment in the race replay and use the replay as a guide. The Moderator Board will make a private vote if the penalty could go either way (if the vote is even, I will break it up and my decision is final).
BLOCKING
You can block only once, and you must maintain your line once you've blocked. Penalties will insue if you block more than this limit. Also, you are allowed to squeeze a driver of the track IF YOU ARE NOT MAKING ANY CONTACT WITH HIM/HER! You must "fake" it. If you actually touch, a very large penalty will insue.
If a car locks up or comes careening down the track too fast, you must do your best to avoid him/her. If he/she makes contact with you, a large penalty will usually suffice.
Bump drafting is strictly forbidden.
CONTACT
Minimal contact is unavoidable, but aggressive contact from old rivalries or anger or just plain ignorance will result in a penalty to the one who caused it. If it continues, one shall be banned from the season permanently or for four races.
THE TRACK
You can't cut the corners or swing wide EVER! I, or other moderators, are allowed to convict ANYONE including MYSELF of these things! As far as penalty and discipline goes, the other moderators on the board are just as powerful as I. If all four wheels go off the track to gain time, you will have a small to large time penalty, given the severity of the corner cutting. Also, depending on the track and corner, a time penalty will be given to those who swing wide off the corner where they could have avoided it.
Another few things: you must not rejoin the track on the racing line if you have spun out. You must reenter off the racing line and only when you get up to full speed can you enter the racing line.
PENALTIES
- Rejoining the racing line after spin (15+ second penalty)
- Vulgar or suggestive comments online (Exclusion from the rest of the season)
- Corner cutting (10+ second penalty EACH TIME)
- Going wide (5+ second penalty EACH TIME)
- Deliberate, aggressive blocking (30+ second penalty)
- Physically blocking into the grass (30+ second penalty)
- Bump drafting (20+ second penalty)
- Dive bombing into a corner (1 minute penalty)
- Swerving on pace lap (30+ second penalty)
- Speeding up before finish line (10+ second penalty)
- 50 MPH+ on pace lap (10+ second penalty)
- Exiting the pit ahead of the leader just following the start after you've been damaged in the pace lap and have pitted (1 minute penalty)
