I've been there twice, though to the same one, and I rarely go out to eat, and while I can't speak for others' experiences, I think they need to wash dishes properly. Stop leaving 4 hour old cheese on the plates. Nice enough service, minus the pushiness of the waiters that like to refill water glasses ever other minute.

How does the food generally taste? Does it have specific items that are much better than other competitor's items?

Personally, I think your review is too short. It needs more detail, and you need to convey your point better.

IHOP is short for International House of Pancakes. They are famous dependable for a never-ending pot of coffee, a variety of syrup flavors at each table, and for being Lewis Black's favorite "health club". The pancakes are good, but their sandwiches, burgers, and entree's are average, sometimes very greasy. The menu has some variety, so there's something for everyone anytime of day. In the larger cities, there's at least one that's open 24 hours a day.

Like most chain restaurants, the service and quality vary from place to place; paradoxically, I've noticed that the busier the IHOP is, the better the quality of food and cleanliness at that time. My local IHOP usually isn't all that busy (they're a 7am to 11pm shop), but I like the fact it's dead quiet if I'm hungry at 8pm at night, if nothing else.

IHOP is alright. Certain food items are good, some are not.

They had a killer Grilled Cheese on the menu a while back, like 9 different kinds of cheeses on some sort of cheese bread. It was insanely good, but recently I've found it absent from the menu, and considering I don't really like anything else they serve, I don't return as often.

I've only had bad service there once, an old female waitress was a bit of a meanie-head. She must've been around 70, couldn't hear, and couldn't speak loud enough for anyone to hear her. She screwed our order up and was rotten about it.

I've never been to an IHOP. It was always Bob Evans or Cracker Barrel for me. I did go to a Denny's the other day, and that was aaawwwweeesome. The burgers and other entres looked good as well.

I've never actually ordered pancakes at IHOP but after my prior experience with their fried or scrambled eggs (got sick each time.) I think I will. I heard they are great.

I had pancakes there the other night. Awesome pancakes, REDICULOUS price for what I got. I got Pancakes, sausage, and OJ.. Cost me 10 dollars. I guess I may be a little cheap, but that seems a huge price to pay compared to like a local cafe or something in which it would have cost about 5 bucks and been the same portions.
