Yesterday at night, I started the Le Mans race, I'm using the BMW V12 LMR doing 5 lap stints with racing hards, It looks that isn't gonna rain in a long time (if it does) I'm first and the second place (Audi R8 '01) is 1.05.xxx away from me but I'm in lap 11 (I first tried 6 lap stints, but didn't work )

Any advice you could give me? :dopey:

When I did it, it was along way in when it started raining. And it rained almost up to the end of the race. Set yourself goals, like 1 hour or 2 hours without a break. It's amazing how the hour's just fly by if you stick at it. Hardest is the night in the rain, and it rained hard. I kept saying, the rain will stop in another hour....Lol Think I manage 7 hours straight without a break. I was proud when I finished it, but felt the prize and lack of occasion was very poor.

I'm doing it atm. My race started with 2 hours rain and then dried up as we went deep into the night. I'm currently approaching hour 9 and I think i'm on just over 120 laps. Despite all that, i'm only 6 minutes ahead of the Audi R8 in 2nd place. I'm using the Bentley.

In the rain, you can pull out a huge lead, the AI can't cope, but they are pretty rapid on dry, especially when you have to work hard to preserve tires. Pick a car with decent headlights... between Mulsanne and the start finish line it is dark... so so dark!

Biggest pro tip is that whilst it is light, learn some brake markers. In the dark you cannot see a lot of the corners approaching and so find you wear tires out a lot quicker because you stamp on the brake as you roll in too quick.

I usually pick a 200 meter corner marker or one of the CCTV cameras to know when to brake. I start slowing down well before I can actually see the corner.

I'm about to start this race and i was considering using the X2010. Any thoughts on this?

You will get extremely bored, 24 hours of lapping the competition will do your head in. It doesn't matter what car you use because you have to drive the whole 24 hours, therefore I suggest using a car that makes it fun and exciting.

I'd use the below thread as a reference on how to make the race fun.

I did it in a well tuned Mclaren F1.... The speed advantage is prevalent, but makes for a very close race
