xbox is a joke
I am so excited! Friend was selling his G25 so I bought it off of him for 80 bucks! I'm setting this up as we speak!

:D

oh, one thing I've been curious, is the clutch actually fully functional? meaning if you miss shift or if you don't shift properly with the clutch, does that really affect your car in the game?

Sounds like a good deal. About the clutch question. I'm not too sure about the clutch being damaged but my answer would be no... I don't have a wheel at the moment so I wouldn't exactly know. Just wait till one of the more experienced players join the discussion.

Gotcha! Thanks, yeah it was one of those deals that I refused to decline hahaha. Even though I don't have much room right now (I live in a college dorm) I'm sure I will manage to improvise somehow hahaha

If this is the first time playing with a wheel, prepare to relearn everything
Well, it happened to me when I switched from a DS3 to a G27..

Anyways, for 80 bucks, good score!

I have a few friends that own wheels and I took them for a try. I could not drive the Ring like I used to.

Congratulations on the wheel purchase, you will not regret it.Concerning your clutch question, yes you can mis-shift but it does no damage. Also, you can't flat shift(power shift)when shifting gears, unfortunately when holding the accelerator flat whilst changing gears will also cause mis-shifts.

You MUST release the throttle fully to change into the next gear, well hope this helps and enjoy 👍

There's nothing like playing a racing game with a steering wheel just make should you have it mounted securely and you'll be good to go. There is definitely a learning curb switching from the DS3 to the wheel but once you get comfortable using it there will be no going back.

Congrats on your purchase and look forward to the first few weeks of relearning most of the things you already know 👍

Not 100% sure about the G25 clutch, but with the T500 & TH8 you can't 'flat shift' but you don't have to completely release the accelerator to get a good shift. In turbo cars especially if you get off the accelerator completely you'll drop too low in the power band and get turbo lag on every shift. I release to about 1/2 to 3/4 accelerator and it grabs every time.

Thank you everyone for the wishes and tips! I really appreciate it!
Yeah I don't THINK I'll be able to use the manual shifter just yet because my desk is a bit too small to mount the wheel AND the shifter on to it. But I'll definitely find something and make it work sometime in the near future.
Yeah I played Forza 4 on the Thrustmaster Forza wheel and it was VERY hard to get use to. But after 3 laps I got kind of used to it, although I was on automatic lol.

Again, thanks everyone! This forum is full of kind people :)

If you can't mount the shifter then just use the paddle shifter.

Yep that's what I will be racing with tonight

by the way, your racing cockpit looks amazing! Aside from owning a 458, one of my other goals is to build myself a racing cockpit some time in the future when I'm out of college and have my own man-cave :)

Alright so I may sound dumb, but other than going into Settings and adjusting the controls for the G25, is there anything else I need to do? because when I go to practice and choose track my car doesn't steer when using my G25's steering wheel. although the gas/brake are working

Make sure that if you have any controllers (e.g. DS3's), they are NOT set to Player 1.

Other than that, it should work even without adjusting. :odd: Sure your friend didn't sell you a broken G25?

Lol yeah we were playing around with it before I bought it from him.
do u guys know how to do what this guy is doing at 2:49? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9a21-3SVVA

You mean the wheel calibrating?

If yours doesn't do that, then I can only assume that there is something wrong with it.

Good luck!

Guys....
I am going to KILL myself.
I am THE biggest dumb*** in this world...

you know what the problem was? I DIDN'T CONNECT IT TO POWER OUTLET... LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
I only had the USB, then as soon as I connect it to AC the wheel starts calibrating HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

go ahead, laugh, I am the biggest idiot I tell you LMFAO

Make sure everything is plugged in correctly including the power supply.

I don't think this is the problem. OP said that the pedals/brakes work, so that means that one, everything is plugged in correctly. Secondly, every component, (the pedals, shifter, power supply) are connected to the wheel, which is then connected to the PS3.

So yes, I believe everything is plugged in correctly for him.

Still, can't hurt double checking!

Nope.. USB will work the pedals without power

You are far from the first person to have done this, infact I once had quite a debate with someone that insisted their G25 didn't need plugging into to a outlet (even though his G25 wouldn't work properly) only for him to finally figure out that he did need it plugging in...

Yup, he was right! check page 1 lmao
this whole entire time I was checking the Power light and I was thinking to myself "Why is it to dim while the sequential light is so much brighter" hahahaha

Anyways guys, thanks a bunch for your help, I was seriously -- close to ranting to my friend :P
time to take the 458 on a spin @ Spa :D

Ah. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Have fun trying! :sly: Any wheel user will tell you how hard it was to adapt to a wheel after moving on from a DS3.

Good luck!

Haha its because he didnt plug in to the power socket. Always happen to me(to excited to jump in to my playseat lol)

Wow guys.. just wow.. this is sensational! I feel like I've wasted so much of my time on GT5 with a DS3! this is a HUGE difference and I absolutely LOVE it! Even though it just took me 2:40 to go around Spa in an F1 car, this is phenomenal!
I think I'm gonna try learning to drive with a wheel on automatic and then change to manual. I know how to drive stick but this is totally different, in real life you don't make so many up/down shifts within a minute LOL
i love how I can FEEL it when I'm running over the kerb :D

No offence to anyone but how can someone use ds3 on gt5 and still love it for so long lol

Congrats on your purchase, you won't regret it(and it looks like you haven't). Welcome to the club.
