... to Vietnam!!! I'm goin there for a couple of weeks to visit family there, and I was wondering if current law lets you take pictures from a digital camera onbaord the aircraft. I was hoping to get some good shots of the Vietnam countryside, it's really pretty! Too bad they only have dial-up internet...

I've never heard of a law that doesn't allow you to take photos on an airline. But I'm not familiar with Vietnamese law. I'm sure you could snap a couple photos without being caught.

Have fun, and don't get accused of being an American spy.

Actually I hear the Vietnamese don't hold too much of a grudge against America, they probably know most Americans opposed the war.

But enjoy the trip! Southeast Asia has some beautiful scenery. I wouldn't worry about the picture taking, but ask a flight attendant just in case.

That might also have to do with the fact that the Vietnam war was more than 30 years ago.

No, there is no bad blood between America and Vietnam, so you shouldn't have any probems over there. But, you should watch out where you step. There is a lot of unexploded shells, and active land mines over there.

my teach came back from myanmar and that area.

its real primitive where they were.

but be sure to enjoy the local delicacies like peanut butter.....except minus the peanuts and made with ants instead.

Ant butter?

I'll be spending a few weeks there with family, although the 18-hour flight across the Pacific will probably make me bored as ________ (fill in the blank). No more GTPlanet once I get to PDX :( :( :( . I'll be leaving on Saturday and I'll be back August 28th. I hope I don't get killed while I'm there.... 👍

Hey, I took lots of pics flying from HK to Vancouver (flight back to Vancouver) without any problems. The ladies on board didn't even say a word (I took the pictures as they were handing out the bright morning breakfast meals.) Man! does that sun rise up quick.)

Hope for some clear skies...I still act like a 4-year-old who's taken his first flight whenever I get a window seat! I took some pics form the window on my arrival from Washington 18 months ago. The results are quite good, but you must not have the flash on, or the photo won't come out.

Also, you might want to invest in a handy little lens filter called a polarizer. Even if it doesn't fit on a tiny 35mm/digital rangefinder-style of camera, you can put it in front of the lens to remove glare.

Here's a shot from the plane as it was landing near Ft. Lauderdale Int'l.
