I've been skiing for 12 or 13 years now (since I was 5-6) and I absolutely love it. I usually get out to ski 5 times a year or so...I wish it was more.
I can't really ski right now since there's no snow here in Ohio, and skiing here would blow anyway, but once I go home for Christmas break I'm going up to Vermont to ski with my uncle for a while, the skiing there is amazing. Most of the places that we go to are ski only, so you don't have a bunch of god damn 13 year old wannabe snowboarders scraping all of the snow off the hills that they can't handle and shouldn't have gone down in the first place.
Does everyone here buy/rent their own skis? If you own your own pair, what kind do you have?
I've got a nice set of Rossignols at home.
As for skiing stories:
When I was a little kid learning to ski, my dad used a dog leash to help teach me. Yes, a leash. Top that. He had it attached to my coat so that I could have some freedom during my first time skiing, but at the same time, if something happened he could still control over me. It actually isn't a very bad idea. Better than going to a ski school anyway.
