Haven't noticed/isn't true. Current Escape is 174.7 inches long; original Explorer was 184.3 inches. Current Explorer is 193.4 inches long; original Expedition was 204.6 inches. The vehicles still have a loooooong way to go before they reach the levels you're talking about.

Good point Doug! +rep

And on topic, saw my first new Highlander tonight!

Took a photo of the front just for this thread although I have to say, I actually really like this Highlander:

Not ugly, not beautiful. Just like the old one and exactly how a Toyota SUV should be. Purrrrfect.

I thought the first Highlander looked like a Grand Cherokee rip off. Second one, while i still don't care for it, it looks pretty nice. I like the RAV4 much better though.

Well who wouldn't - the RAV4 does 0-60 in 6.9.
Well, I didn't know that, and that certainly helps. :sly: But even by just looks alone, I find the RAV4 and CR-Vs to be couple of the nicest looking SUVs around.

I really like the interior of Navigators, but the new face on them..... ugh.

Still ugly, and still isn't an appealing SUV. Hmmm...

They've been sitting at our dealer for over a week, and my guess is that they'll be there at least a month before they are traded away for something else. Its what they've been doing with the Tundra, which reminds me, I need to go pick on the Tundra salesmen sometime soon...

Now Doug, we've certainly all seen Subaru Foresters before. They've been out since 2005. Which brings me to my next point:
M5Power
Not ugly, not beautiful. Just like the old one and exactly how a Toyota SUV should be.
The irony there is that not only is it a great duplication of something that was already out (like all of the great Toyota's, it seems), but it also raises a new tradition of Japanese cars copying other Japanese cars, instead of just European ones.
In any case, the Japanese SUVs behind and in front of it are so much more attractive.

When you see the new Highlander you will see NO Forester in it - it's very clearly more substantial than that vehicle. Coming up from behind my initial impression was 'New Land Cruiser' - it wasn't until I read 'Highlander' on the rear that I knew what it was.

kinda like what subaru did with the impreza. then the fixed it and broke it again

----

but hey thats just my opinion

It's mine, too. As a long-time Subaru fan, it's been rough, and I've owned most of those designs (stopped at '06, though). The pre-bugeye 2.5RS looked pretty good, though. It just about overcame it's economy car image.

2nd Gen MR2 is one of the sexiest cars ever made.

I'll have one eventually. Turbo+wet = ditch!

You never said that about mine.

Also only the revision 1 turbos (and non turbos) suffer from sudden snap understeer and the only other way you should find a ditch is if you fit a set of nankangs. Also you could try driving sensibly in a mid engined car in the wet. Although I had no problems on a twisty national speed limit road in pouring rain on my crappy falkens and I recently put my finger through one of my rear chassis braces it was so rusty!

God my posts are always gay and about mr2's hmmmmmm.

Subaru FTW. It's god awful ugly, not not satanistic like the Toyota. I told you the new Toyotas look like gushy boogers!

I actually like the picture Keef posted - Corollas always look good.

That's no Corolla, but an Avensis ;)👍

Now I'm on it, the Avensis has rather made a "fugly-great looking" evolution, let's check it out!

When the very first Avensis appeared, it looked like this. A reliable car, but no match for VW's awesome Passat:

Some years later, the new Avensis appeared. It hit the wagon class hard, scoring top places amongst VW's Passat and Opel's Vectra:

A little later, Toyota gave the Avensis a facelift, along with re-styled tail- and headlights, some minor interior changes as well were made and of course, new alloy rims. From the moment it appeared, VW created their new Passat and ever since, these two are the top cars in the wagon class with the Vectra being the only car able to keep up with these two:

Put some effort in an Avensis, and it turns out into a sexy looking wagon!

IMO, the Avensis has made a dramatical change, and a very good looking one as well 👍

On the European Corolla, that's another story. The '80s Rolla's looked like crap but you could not brake them, they kept running whatever you did. Put that engine in the Auris and you've got an incredible hatch...

OBJECTION!!! *pounds hands on bench*

Indeed, while the European Corolla is...attractive, allow me to present evidence that it is NOT the "Sexiest" Corolla ever built.

((I'll admit, though that Europe's Toyotas don't look as bad as America's))

That Toyota Is ****ing awesome.
where can i find one. lol
my dad has an 91 corolla with a **** tranny in the barn and it's ugly as hell but it was reliable as hell until the tranny went

Yes, but that's probably a custom AE86 or something along those years...By sexiest Corolla I meant the sexiest Corolla made by Toyota 👍 Nice image though

It's been spruced up a bit, yes, but other than that it looks like a pretty normal AE72.

Yeah, AE72, that's waht I put up. I purposely AVOIDED the AE86...Fun car, but I wouldnt' consider it sexy...

But this is off the topic.
