Im in love with this game all over

I bought a DFGT about 6 months ago, I had used it for a couple computer games, mostly NR2003, and I use it a little bit with GT5. Shortly after I bought it our PS3 got the YLOD for the second time. I attempted another reflow but couldn't get it to work.

I never had a proper mount for my wheel. I had it crudely clamped to the coffee table but it forced me to play in a terrible position and it was uncomfortable. The wheel also moved constantly. I built a pretty ugly but effective stand out of some scraps I had in the garage.

I bought a new PS3 a couple months ago but just tried my stand and wheel with GT5 last night. I have never had that much fun playing this or any other GT game.

I guess I am posting this to say if you are on the fence about getting a wheel that it is so worth it.

I for some reason have a school desk (I guess it was my older brother's, but why?) that I use as my stand. It was slippery for the DFGT so I would stick paper under the clamps for a quick fix. Now that I have the G27, even though it doesn't slide as much or often, it's only a minor annoyance. Glad to hear someone finding themselves :D in GT through a steering wheel.

I started the game with the DFGT and never looked back. I agree it's a whole different experience with the wheel, and properly mounted on something firm that doesn't move easily. Lots of custom rigs can be built quite easily for less than the cost of most wheels, and for the ingenious types, scraps from around the garage will often suffice.
 
Warning, I said it was ugly. Lol. I'll probably end up building another one eventually but it seems to do the job. The best part was it was free, I had all the hardware and wood. Only cost about 45 minutes of my time.

I wanted something that I could use while sitting all the way back in the couch and be comfortable. When it was clamped to the coffee table I had to sit up and it was awkward. Plus, we moved the coffee table because of an 11 month old girl.
 
Simplicity at its finest. Hey, as long as its sturdy 👍.

It might not be pretty, but as long as it works you can be proud of it 👍.

Plus, it's also better than what I've got.

Form < Function when it comes to home made rigs my friend :) . You can build it to your needs.
 
I felt the same way when I got my wheel, been playing racing games with a controller until I hit the ceiling where I couldn't really go any faster or enjoy the game anymore with one. After getting my fanatec last year, and practicing with it for a month, it's totally revitalized my experience. And another thing it made tuning worthwhile for me now that I could totally feel how my car is handling.
 
This happened to me too when I got my G27. It made playing GT5 alot more fun and challenging (challenging because I kinda suck at driving) :)
 
Once you get a wheel you'll never go back to the controller. Can't believe it took me so long to get my DFGT. I had a Madcatz wheel a long time ago, but the pedals basically broke after a few months so I junked it. For a long time I was leery of getting another wheel or spending serious money on a professional setup, but this forum really helped guide me in the right direction. The brake pedal is a little weak on the DFGT, but it's not so bad.

I personally love running in the cockpit view on premium cars and the bumper cam with the standard. (don't like the generic in-car view). I won't drive any other way. It's the closest I can get to driving the actual car. Only thing better would be to feel the G-forces.
 
A couple of my close friends bought me a DFGT for my birthday about two years back. I love those guys.
 
I know exactly what you mean. Running the Mine&#8217;s BNR34 SKYLINE GT-R or Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo in a tuner car race is so immersive with my Clubsport BMW rim and CSP v2s with a large TV and a good home theater setup since PD nailed the sound effects on those two cars. You forget your playing a game at times :)
 
When I first bought my DFGT I forgot that I also needed fairly sturdy something to mount it on so it actually collected dust for a long time because I didn't have anything suitable for months. My girlfriend recently bought a small office desk that just happens to be the perfect size in terms of height and portability and now I regret not sorting this out sooner. As other people have said above, there is no going back to the DS3 now.
