I'm kind of in a conundrum...

Levi's getting his license on Wednesday and likes to talk trash about street racing? Honestly, I hope we're not hearing about him in an RIP thread later this fall. Do your best to continue talking against street racing, and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES race for him or with him.

I'd never let him do it. I couldn't live with myself If that happened.

I wonder how far KCIR is from here...

Honestly, I don't think he's stupid enough to actually race. When he gets his car (he's saving up for an early 90s Nissan) , It will be his baby and he won't try to do stupid stuff like that. If he does brag about doing 100 down the street by his school at 10:30, I'm not the least bit scared to call his Mom and let her know what's up. He'd be bitter about it and would never talk to me again, but I don't want EMTs to have to find him in a mangled Nissan.

Can you guys maybe email me some pics of street racing accidents so I can show him how stupid Street Racing is?

How about those famous Skyline photos? They weren't street racing accidents, but it was still speeding none the less which is exactly what street racing is, just with another car.

But don't be surprised if he just says he'll be safe about it....I've seen more than enough kids say they make it as safe as possible even though it's dangerous no matter hows safe.
The road is king, and always decides your fate should you tackle it.

I don't have any pics but I can give you my buddy's phone number who is a police officer. He can tell your friend about what it's like to go to someones house and tell them their son is dead because he was stupid. He just had to go tell a wife, two kids, and parents that their loved one wouldn't be coming home just last week because they were street racing and hit someone head on. Then he had to go tell the wife of the person who was hit head on that her husband of 50 years wouldn't be coming home either because of some kids thought it would be cool to do some highway runs.

Thanks, IMADreamer.

I'll tell him all of that when I talk to him next. Hopefully it will get some sense in him.

I grew up hating kids. I hated them because they were stupid. Not stupid because of any developmental thing, but because they couldn't see more than two feet ahead of what they were doing. Street racing is exactly one of those symptoms of this paralyzing near-sightedness that kids (and pretty much everyone under 40) suffer from.

So congratulations on not making me hate you. 👍 ;)

Hope those help. The other advice about school society being inconsequential in your life (outside of the education itself) is dead on. You can almost set your clock to the point where it all clicks off: the 9AM orientation freshmen year at college. Then, of course, there's another switch that happens when you get your first real job, but that's a conversation for another year.

+ rep for that post, and the attitude in general.

Thanks, Duke.:) I've come a long way, haven't I?

He's probably going to take the test sometime in the next hour. But, he does realize that driving is a priveledge and that doing stupid stuff will force people to take away the priveledge of operating a motor vehicle. (there's a D in priveledge, right?)

💡 I can just talk to my friend Kieth's dad! He's an Olathe, KS police officer and knows where all the legal places are to get that kind of speed.

Again, thanks guys.

street racing has always been boring to me, never tried it. i'd rather have legitimate numbers ala timeslip or just the satisfaction of knowing you tore it up at the road course......can anyone say "gutted 1982 toyota starlet powered by 4AGE next summer"? because i know i will be.....can't wait!

harryturtle is right about how pointless highschool drama is. i just graduated highschool and pretty much everyone leaves. it may seem depressing......but trust me....its nice ;- )

Oh no, i'm in high school next year!

And the dbag level was crazy in 7th!

I can imagine a Ram autocrossing  OMG
