Like stated above I have 65000 credits what should I get I don't want to hold out for a higher priced car. Notice I am only new because I just got the PS2 so I am pretty good at GT1 and GT2 but just a novice at A-spec. Buy the way cars on hand are Mazda miata and New Beatle 2.0 (which is pretty tricked out).

What's for sale?:)

My second car was the Tommy Edition Lancer, very awesome car, and it can win any of the races in beginner leauge that it is allowed in. That's what I'd get.

I say take your miata and upgrade it. The beetle is fairly useless in this game, sorry to say. Then, take the beginner league. At some point, you win a rx-7 fc and a Camaro SS, which are just about the two best cars the beginner league prize list has to offer. But.....I forgot which race gets you those....maybe stars and stripes?

[edit] You get the rx-7 at the 80's sports car cup (miata is a great entry here) and the Camaro at the stars and stripes. Out of these two, the rx-7 is easier to get, but the Camaro ends up faster. Another one you might check out is the S-13 Silvia you win at the FR meet. This one you should be able to take with a medium-to-high tune miata.

Or...if you go with the Lancer, I'd suggest going through rally once you have it fully upgraded. Or rather....go win the Focus rally car and use THAT to win the rally league....and then amateuer league.

Anyways.....good luck with your game. Tell us what you end up doing. And always.....have fun :)

Loaded my game just to look into this question. :D

Basically, the RX7 rs or rz would be the best car for short-term win potential as well as long-term win potential.

The Z06 with super slicks would be a nice run for the polyphony cup, but the price would just barely cover that with a 54,000 vette and 10,000 dollar slicks.

Compare that to the rx7 priced in game at about 39 and you end up with a no brainer for the person who is really trying to run through gt3 without the aid of xports & MKS.

So... RX7 rs for 37,900 or RX7 rz for 39,???

Good luck and have fun with it. ;)

btw, my suggestion...
Get all the licenses, buy the rx7rs and run the polyphony digital cup with super slicks. 👍

Later. :D

I would say Either a Lancer, Impreza or Skyline. They will get you all of beginner and a lot of amateur too. They will also be able to blitz the rally section. If you have the S licence do the rally to get the Escudo, Take it to Like the Wind and win the 787B that will have you sorted for the rest of the game.

Well, on T2 tires, the SVT cobra can handily take on the PD cup.

I've had an absolute blast in the MR2 in the Rome enduro, and that one on T2 tires with minor upgrades can take the win.

Also GoKents choice of the RX-7 will do an ample job on most all of Beginner and Amateur, once you've added another 100,000 to your current 65.

My choice would have to be the SVT. WIth minor build up, it can handle the power (yo'll need about 400-450 hp fro most races) and still give you an excellent advantage.

Then again, you could pick up a Miata for 18,000, add T2 tires, and take out the Miata enduro twice. SHould run you about 2 1/2 hours and you'll have 265,000 on hand. WHich would get you the Ruf 3400s and subsequent cash. After that falls the Amateur & PRo Spider races, as well as the boxer races.

Good luck

I'll throw my 2 cents in here too... I'm not fond of buying cars for the game that you will win in the game. Because of that, the SVT gets my vote here. My personal preference for actual car choice between the RX-7 and the SVT would be the RX-7.

In the end, either one of the two is a pretty good choice, it just makes more fiduciary sense to buy a car you will never win if you are stuck on buying something.

So many choices...

Lexus IS300. Or should I say, Toyota Altezza. Got me pretty far early on. but I doubt it will take you as far as the RX7. You should by a Supra RZ. That's the way to go. When you get enough money you can boost it up to over 1000hp!

You better change your descison.
Why? The SVT Mustang is a great car. My only regret is that I listened to too many people like you a couple years ago and didn't pick one up until late in the game, so I missed driving it for a lot of races where it would have done well.

I'll second phattboy's comment that it makes no sense to buy a car you're going to win soon enough anyway, which is another vote for the SVT Mustang. I'll also answer gokents's question and say definitively that the RX-7 RZ is not worth 2 kilocredits more than the RS.

I'll also second Der Alta's suggestion that you take run the Roadster Enduro. If your Miata has no non-removable mods (no lightweight work, no port & polish, no balance & blueprint), you can remove all the extras except T2 tires and win this race. It's fun, you earn some cash, and you get a 25% chance of winning an F1 car. If you do win the F1 car, sell it and use the cash to buy/build a variety of interesting cars. Do not succumb to the Dark Side and use it to blow away 80% of the game...

I never got why people said it handled like crap, I think it's a very balanced machine stock and it does handle extra power well. I ran the Trial Mountain Endurance with it, then reduced the wieght, added some suspension mods to the car, a few minor engine and drivetrain ones and I went off to the Rome Enduro and slapped it. SVT Cobra, certainly Burninates. Just don't listen to Darin.

Another option would be to attempt all the Time Trials in arcade mode and get a wad of cashola for the Panoz. Or keep the panoz and obliterate everthing, although to me that's a bit boring.

:D On the other hand, when I got a sharkport and MK's, I did succumb a bit to the darker side for giggles. Since they call it a Cobra, I decided it was okay to take my Mustang SVT into MK's and drop a real Cobra motor and Cobra racing tranny in it. I, of course, had defeated the game several times by that point and so justified that "step away from the light" by extending the "real fun" that can be had "after the honeymoon". With a few other minor modifications (that I would be happy to share to whom might be interested) you have a car that is really a hoot to drive. :D

No, that's "handles like crap". Only Japanese cars are cool enough to be allowed to call it "drifting". Get it right next time.

So true!

👍

The mustang is a bad about the drift handling.

I still say the Rx7 rz. :D

At 550 hp I am running the dream car championship with out much trouble (almost no trouble at all).

Rx7 rz... that's you're car for this one.

GoKents, is that the Amateur Dream Car championship? I've been recently having a blast doing the in GTP_week57 RUF RGT on T5 tires. The same as I used here.

It's usually a close call win and enjoyable. Make sure to sandbag the Stage 2 turbo for Test Course.

Speaking of MK's I recently changed the RUF CTR2 over to RR instead of AWD.

As a further thought, the Corvette Z06 fits under the 65,000 mark and is amazingly formidable with about another 70,000cr.

I'd have to agree, I think between that car and the PT Cruiser (of all cars  ) they where the cars that saved my ass and the way I got ahead in the game.

Thank you all for your help after much squabbling about the SVT I decided that I would see what the comotion is about. Yes it has power but I think I need to get some new tires b/c as it was metioned it does steer really wild.

Thank you all again

I never run anything less than T2s (Super Slicks) on any car, unless I have a specific purpose in mind. The SVT Mustang will respond well to T2s or T4s, and it is not too hard on front tires like the Camaros tend to be.

Thanks for the advice I just used the SVT to win the camero a couple of days ago so that should be usefull info though I wonder if the Mustang will overcome some of its handling discrepentcies with super softs?

If you make the rear spring rates a lot lighter than you would think, the SVT handles quite well. Makes it easier to keep the rear end planted.

And while I'm a bit late to the party, the EVO 6 RS is no slouch in that price range either.
You can use either of the cars suggested above to win the European cup in Amateur League. Then use the Save/load trick to get the Vertigo. In an hour you should be well over a million credits.

Too bad it's only available in Refrigerator White ®...
Actually, the Evo VI RS is the lightest Evo. It was one of my early purchases and while I loved the little hotrod, I used it way too much, doing much of Beginner and part of Amateur with it. That car is the main reason I decided to never run more than one series or Enduro in a given car.

I'd have to say RX-7 RS with medium/medium-slick tires, sports computer and whatever drivetrain mods you can afford after that (twin plate clutch, semi racing flywheel, carbon driveshaft etc..).

Or you could pick up an Evo VII GSR if you know how to drive and tune AWD cars. Otherwise, I'd just stick to FR and maybe go with an S2000 if you prefer NA over turbo.

*drool* S2000...

Actually, if you're new to AWD cars, I'd suggest starting with the WRX STi Version 4 (cheapest WRX). The Evos use something called an AYC which can be finicky. Best stay away from that for now.
