I just got this game and i love it but i'm not very good, or atleast i don't think i am i really don't have any scale to rate myself on because i've never seen anyone i know play this game and i've never played previous gt games. But i am at the end of the beginner races and i wanna beat the championship but i can only manage to win the first to races then i start getting in like 5 and 6th place in my 350hp lancer evo 7 gsr. Should this be enough to be able to win this championship? One of my main problems is that the computer does things that i would only imagine real people could do like when i'm in first and going into a corner, i brake and the computer continues to go into it at full speed hitting my side and sending me into last place. I am also not exactly clear on how to turn do i need to brake hard before i enter and turn while braking to adjust my angle then just accelerate or tap brake and let the car lose some grip. One last thing i wanted to know is they say dont turn while braking and when i try to turn after letting go of the accelerator the swerve and i also swerve when accelerating, so when can i turn?

Sorry about writing a whole essay.

welcome to GTP fresh

you'll find that the "search" function will be your best friend.. ;)

and to answer ur question, 350 lancer would not be nuff for me, although i know that osme ppl can do it..

but...... try "TRY" to get ur hands on a race version car... those things work realy well @ the beginner championship..
infact, you should actually skip it and head onto amatuer.. cuz that race don't even give out nice cars.. ;P

I completed most of the begginer's races (the ones where you can pick whatever car you want) with an Evo Lancer and it wasn't too hard. You need a more powerful car for the next league though. I would highly reccomend a R34 Skyline GTR until you win a race car.

Welcome to GTPlanet, Fresh! :)

nah, just give your evo a stage 1 turbo upgrade and u can beat heap of amatures if its set up right :)

oh, and welcome :)

i won an r32 from the beginner championship and i supped it up equal to my evo 7 to test it out and it's much faster and the handling is much better than my evo is the r34 significantly better than the r32?

to an extent, yes.
the R34 Skyline, as is commonplace within the Skyline family, can be built to crank out massive loads of power. this power, when used either without tuning or in excess, can cause horrible understeer. if you're going to build up an R34, be ready to tune it.

how do i tune the car to get rid of decrease the understeer, the r32 that i tuned to 415 hp has the same handling as when i got it stock, so far it's the best car i have driven.

in the suspension setup.

stiffen up the rear and add camber to the tires.

oh, and be sure to use the power for good and not evil :p

Welcome to GTP, Fresh! I'm in about the same position you are, except at the amateur level. I'll give you a few pointers in addition to what others have offered above.

1) The AI cars tend to get a boost in the last 4 or so races of the longer series. As near as I can guess, they get about 10% extra horsepower, and your car seems to lose a little traction as well. What I do to counter this is buy and extra upgrade to give myself an additional 10% horsepower, but I don't install it until I see they are getting a boost.

2) Brake earlier than you think you should, brake hard in a straight line, and turn in as you are easing off the brakes. As the car settles in, feed the power smoothly and continue turning. I find that the turn can be adjusted by momentary blips of the throttle as you hit the apex, before going full on as the following straight opens up for you.

Good luck! My Evo VI RS has been my favorite car so far.

oh, and take the stability control off and that baby will drift like nothing else!!! (not that i am into drifting...)

is the evo 6 rs better than the evo 7 gsr?
Well, I have both, and I prefer the Evo VI RS - not the GSR. The VI RS is the lightest of all the Evos, and with tuning it will outperform any of the others except the rally car. But I don't think that the difference is big enough to be worth scrapping a successful VII GSR and switching over.

The only drawback is that the VI RS only comes in refrigerator white.

I bet that race with the Mazda RX-7 Infini III(the one u won in the 80's sports car cup:bieginner)just strat saving money till u can get it over 400hp and that car should do it 4 u

The tuning I did with my Skyline GT-R V to cure most of the understeer was: Spring rate--Frt14kgf/mm RR10kgf/mm
Camber angle--Frt2.9 RR1.2
Stabilizers Frt/RR 5
Brake Balance Frt9 RR11
ASM 9 TCS 7
VCD Controller 40%

It tough to control understeer in 4WD cars because of the extra weight in front causes the front end push all the time, as with the extra traction of 4WD.

I thought to decrease understeer things must be done to give better traction in front or less traction in the rear such as shifting more weight to the front. Is this true?

A Frt wheel drive car has natural tendency to understeer because all the weight is over the drive wheels, so by reducing the front diff. % the car will drive or react like a front engine/rear drive set-up.

If you take a Frt drive car and start to drive aggressively with it the rear end will break loose almost every time because all the weight(momentum) is in front and rear is too light to stay inline. It just the physics of the weight distribution. If you look at the Ruf R-GT the weight is over the drivetrain, since this is a rear engine/rear drive set-up the laws of momentum doesn't affect it as much. When you look at a mid engine/ rear drive set-up(F1,LeMans Prototypes, Cart/IRl) the weight distribution is more centered giving better accelleration, braking and handling. Strange only Ruf(Porsche) is really the only one to use the rear engine/rear drive set-up.

I didn't say I had any trouble with the first race i was talking about the last race in beginner league, the gt world championship. But I beat that a while ago as this post was made like 3 weeks ago.
