Hey guys, i hear this is the place to come with questions about racing hardware. I just recently got into racing games and want to purchase a wheel. I want it to have a clutch and an H gearbox. I don't want to spend any more than $175 on it. Could anyone help me out? The best one ive found is the logitech g25 or g27, but theyre both a bit on the expensive side.

Those are your only options with those features at that price point.

Unless you can buy used, the G27 is the one of only wheels close to your price range (about $240 on Amazon) or you can get the GT3RSv2 Value Pack XL on Fanatec.com for about $260.

Is it possible for you to save up for another month or two? Or do you have the racing bug and would like to purchase immediately? I would tend to stay away from refurbished, it is possible to get a good wheel but it is also possible to get one that only lasts 3 months and that's what a refurbished warranty is (90 days). A G27 fits what you are looking for and a refurbished is close to your price.

Every now and then a used T500 comes up for sale, albeit for more then your budget allows, however you get what you pay for. A new T500 with a shifter would be a great setup but you would need to save up for a few months.

For your needs and wants a refurbished is your best bet.

If you do not want to spend too much money, you could buy a Logitech Driving Force GT (has no clutch). Buy a second hand cheap second steering wheel and only use the pedals of that wheel: use the gas pedal as the clutch. I have removed the brake pedal and added the compression spring of the brake pedal to the clutch pedal for extra force. That's how I did it anyway, works great. Total costs: about $125 I guess ($70 in my case, but that's another story). Only suitable on a PC.
But I see now I missed one point: no H-shifter in this case. I'm using a TH8RS: great shifter, but total costs will go over your budget...

Personally I had the Logitech G25 as a starter wheel, then about a year later I purchased the T500.
I loved my G25, but when you try out the T500 it just makes the G25 look miserable lol.

but yeah man I would definitely recommend a G25/G27 if you are just starting out and want to try a wheel.

I don't know if I'd go that far... I used a G27 for a couple few years before moving to the T500, and yes, the T500 is better, but dollar for dollar I don't think you can beat the G27. If I didn't stumble into a great deal on my T500, I'm sure I'd still be happy with the G27.

Also depends on whether or not the budget that you have put forward is the maximum that you are able to spend, or the maximum that you feel you can justify to yourself (or others).

I get the impression that sometimes people have no idea of how much they are going to take to it. For me, I originally borrowed my brother's Logitech Momo for a bit. I found it a bit on the gritty side, but also found that I loved it, and that I wanted to get the best that I could at the time. Someone else may find that they quickly become disinterested.

The money spent on a DFGT for example will be precious money lost if you find that soon after you want to move up to say, a G27.
