So I go to the eye-doctor on monday and apparently I had some sort of bacteria growing on my left contact. He gives me some drops and says that I have to wear my glasses until further notice. Therein lies a problem, my glasses are 2 years old and with them on I can only see clearly for about 3 or 4 feet. So that pretty much ruined my week, I cant even watch TV easily. I just want to punch something or light a fire lol.

End rant.

How can you. Just make sure their 4 feet in front of you...

I feel your pain-

I too have had eye trouble. I had to have surgery were they took my eyes completely out of the sockets and "trim" the muscles so they were both even. It hur like hell when he adjusted it. They had to tie a stiing around the muscle then pull it into place.

Aw God, you just had to say the "taking out the eyeball" part...that's disgusting :yuck:

It must be hard to do anything without eyes - I'm glad I have good eyes; so I can't feel your pain. I know it is hard though.
 
Did you turn all green an throw some large household appliances around? That would have been cool.

I'll probably be ordering new glasses tomorrow but as for new contacts, he might not let me wear new ones for a month :grumpy:

I thought it was bad when they held my eyes open with a machine and scraped my eye balls to remove splinters of rust, but woah...I vote opendriver's post as the cringe-iest post ever on GTP. :scared: :yuck:

yea it does and to top it off fireworks are gonna be this weekend. I live on a river and theres this guy across the river from me who highers a professional firework man to put on a show. Stupid eyes.

Nope, just regular eye ball material, but thanks to my work, I still have rust slivers lodged in my eye. :(

Note: Replace "splinters" with "slivers" in my last post. :lol:
 
Too bad man. I wear contacts and luckily I've never had an infection. If I had to wear glasses for a long period I'd feel really weird around my friends having never worn them in front of them.

How bad is your vision without glasses or contacts? My vision is 20/800 without corrections and I don't have a backup pair of glasses, so when I get a new prescription and I don't get new frames I'm stuck without glasses for 4-5 days.

With my glasses on :D

I'm horribly near-sighted. Any medium-sized text on my computer screen can't be read from more than 1-2 feet away. I hate my bad vision. I might get contacts soon, but contacts might not be a good idea for sports, because if you lose your glasses on a football field, you can find them. If you lose your contacts on the field, you really can't find them.
 
I wear contacts too. Im scared of that exact same thing happening. So it grew in ur contact and not ur eye???
 
I have strabism. And I have Buddy Holly style glasses. And I hate them,because I'm stuck with them.

BTW,the eye-doctor is called oftamologyst.Atleast I think.Or it is,but my spelling is wrong.
 
Why don't you just call them Opticians or is there a difference?

Lovely, bacteria. Was it because of incorrect care or what?
 
It's optometrist guys (I'm not a spelling major)
 
Optometrist = deals with vision problems (no alteration of the eye itself)
Ophthalmologist = deals with physical eye problems (surgery, disease, damage)

And come on...glasses aren't that bad. There are so many frames out there nowadays, there's bound to be some that look good on you.
 
That's bad, I wear contacts but I've always kept a new enough pair of glasses in the house.
 
You think you had it bad, when I was in fifth grade, I somehow managed to grow a third eyelid. Operation and 2 weeks of no peripheral vision sucks.
 
If I do have to resort to wearing glasses, I'm pretty wel sold on this mounting system.

You have bacteria growing because you use your contacts far too much. You should have a current pair of glasses that you can wear around the house, while you give your eyes a rest from contact over-use. I also found this out the hard way, but it was only my ignorance that was too blame.
