I am finalising the payment tomorrow and i will have a car of my very own once again after my old cars death in november.

I don't know if i can sleep tonight as i will be too excited about it.

The car i will be getting is a Honda Civic Si 2011 (FK2)

And the Australian Si makes 60hp less than the USDM one? Though I guess Aussie Type R = US Si.

I take it the power is due to australian emmision laws.
 
Nice. Always liked this gen Civic. I particularly love that the dashboard appears to be lifted straight out of Logan's Run.

Si's aren't much for performance in Europe either. It would be like this car, actually. This is the same motor as the non-Si here (though its designated A2 instead of the US-market A1, same specs).

the aussie Si has 103kW and 174Nm.

so in the imperial scale they would be 138hp and 128ft/lb.

hmm, sounds mighty similar :confused:
 
I think the Honda Civic Si FK2 i am getting is equivalent to the US EX-L, but a hatch.

I just need to wait for the loan to clear.
 
I got the car this morning and i love it alot, it has all these little extras like auto headlights, auto wipers, auto dimming rear view mirror, auto climate control that a geek like me loves.

I just need a few more manual lessons has i am having issues with starting from a stand still.

Go easy on that clutch dude. Just stay smooth and you'll get it soon enough.

Pretty much this.

Getting moving is definitely the "hard" part... Once you get used to what you need to do in general as well as get used to the car you'll be set. Until you drive something with a strange uptake or less twist than you're used to, at which point you'll either stall it or slip the clutch too much. :p

Congrats on the new car by the way... And I envy you even if it is "slow" by American standards (where the press calls anything that takes longer than 7 seconds to hit 60 "dreadfully slow").
 
I think i could hit 100km/h/62mph in less than 7 seconds, but doing that would put stress on a new motor and tranny which i have yet to break in.

I have been driving around the block learning the starting from a standstill and i am getting better at it.
 
Did they advise you on how much you're allowed to rev it in the first few thousand kays etc? I read in a motoring magazine a while ago, might have been Wheels, they picked up their new long term test vehicle, it was an RX-8 from memory, they were told for the first, 2000 kms I think, no not rev it past, from memory I'm probably wrong, around 5000 rpm, and then after that for the next 500 or so kms to just nail it everywhere - I'm, just interested if they gave you any instructions like that, I've never owned a new car.

I imagine after those first few kays were up and they were finally allowed to nail it it would have been pretty satisfying :)

You normaly find it in the car manual, it tells you to avoid driving hard or towing so all the engine componets can break in.
