Hi.
I was in a bit of a pickle when I got home from school today. I was waiting all day to come home and race the Mistral 78 Laps (I wanted the XJ220 Race car) and turned on the PS2 when I got home. I waited for it to load and it said "CORRUPT FILE". The sad part is that I was over 78% through the game and just got the 787B, had over 110 cars, and about 2.5 million Credits (OUCH!! It hurts to even think about it). So, I came here to GTPlanet.net, saw that it happens to other people and now I'm starting over.

Well, I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for a "starter's" car. In my last game I started out with a Mazda Demio, and I don't recommend it. I think the Toyota Sprinter is a good choice, but if it isn't the best choice, I don't want to make a mistake.
If you can help, thanks, if you can't, oh well. Any helpful posts will be appreciated.

Eh, I went with the Miata first time around. If you want to get back to where you were in a quick manner, beat the Arcade stuff first. Specifically the Time Trials, as you get a race car from that and can walk through most of the Beginner and Amature stuff with that one car (Esperante).

i always pick the Mazda MX5, its a good car to start with and you can MAX it out well, plus it handles quite well

Finnish the License first get the miata and then go to the Apricott hill Miata endurance first : )

No no no!

Time Trials! Get the Esperante.

Professional Dream Car. Use the reload trick to get the F090/s.

Woohaa!

Well...I doubt that you'll get the F1 car the first time around. I've done that race bout 4 times and gotten 4 miatas. But this is probably the best way to start the game. If you can gold the B liscence, take the miata and buy super-slicks. Go to the Apricot enduro and it should be really easy. You probably end up with another miata (sell) and 100k, setting you up at around 110,000 credits. Now, you can go however you want pretty easy. Personally, I'd get the Speed 6, do the Poly Digi Cup, do the TVR challenge, and be set for life (basically).

Try to gold the B, A licenses first. I've also recently restarted. Gold on the B license took me... ~ 2 hours (yes, I drive quite horribly)

I too would recommend golding the first license tests.

With the miata you win, you can slap a set of Sports tires on it add an oil change and take the Cheap Route to gaining cash. Once you're done there, that little Miata can knock out a number of beginner races. Each one granting you a new car that is very applicable to the next race.

So for short money, and about 8 hours, you'd be well on your way to finishing the game.

My other suggestion, would be to avoid using the F1 cars the entire time. You'll enjo it more.

Good luck,

AO

I would get all golds on the lisences and time trials first off. That way you start off with a couple free cars, and the Esperante will get you well started into Beginner.

I have to agree with that. The times I used the F1 cars to quickly bypass a race quickly I nearly fell asleep from bordeom. Use the link to Der Alta's compendium to find some good matchups for nearly all the races in the game.

WOW! Thanks a lot for all of your suggestions. It really gave me some options.
Hey, Der Alta, your compendium site really is one of the best "strategy guide" sites I've seen. Great job.

Hmm.. All i did was save up for a decent car doing the FR challenge over and over till i got a skyline. Then i went to amateur league and took the super speedway race about 20-22 times and maxed out my skyline.. Then i went to the super speedway endurance race and the cash just started flowing in.

This is definately the best approach.

Supporting this even more is the fact that your 18,000 credits of starting account can go to a set of perfectly fresh super hard tires.

Helps ensure that enduro victory. ;)

Good luck fella, this problem happend to me in gt2 at about the exact levels you were at in gt3.

...
later.

Thanks! a lot of time and effort went into in, and I'm planning an identical set-up for GT4. (when it gets here...)

You should start out with the old rx7 it has the most horse power out of any car u cann buy at the start

It's me again. . . I took most of your suggestions in winning the B License for the Miata and then going to the endurance, but I'm still struggling with the tests. Anyway, thanks again for all your ideas, and I'm sure it'll only be a short time before I finally get the golds. (My only useable excuse would be my school hours/schoolwork)
