Okay, with the recent overflow of relationship threads, I figured I'd ask you guys a few questions. But first here comes the story:

There is this girl (Amber) and we dated on and off for awhile when she wasn't supposed to be dating (according to her dad). Well, that was about 6 months ago and I happen to like her. But she has a boyfriend (a friend of mine). Problem is, Amber isn't the most popular girl in school. My friends expect me to "go higher on the food chain" than her. But I really don't care and wanna go out with her. And before her and Justin started going out, we would flirt....a lot. But now I feel as if I lost my chance.

Tell me GTP - what should I do? I've never had this problem except for a few times but they were just for fun. This time its serious.

Help.

What should you do? Tell your "friends" they're assholes, and ask Amber out.

Date who you want to date - not who your friends want you to date.

Yeah, thats what I've been thinking...thanks for the advice.

P.S. I didn't know who you were for a minute Ryan! I forgot you changed your name.

Unless Justin is a ^!@^!, the only honorable thing to do is to let the relationship die on its own. If they never break up, accept it.

I'm staunchly anti-cheating. If they allow multi partner dating, fine, but if Justin does not, than Amber should leave him if she is more interested in being with you. I do not think you should attempt to expediate a break up.

No offense, just being honest.

No way! I'm gonna let it die out on it's own. I don't wanna be a dick. And Justin is a cool dude. A great baseball player, too. :)

Don't be her friend then try and make a move. That'll only make things horribly worse.

"I can't date you...you're like a brother to me.."

well, dating who you want to sounds like a good idea.
unfortunately for me, i lost Natalie Portman's number (again).

I was told that by a girl before. I replied that she was like a sister to me too and that's what turned me on...
It seems like we didn't stay friends too long afterwords.

You from Arkansas? ;)

Go with your hearts desires... my situation is pretty similar to yours..... except my good friend dumped her... ouch for her, "ding ding ding" for me.. :D

Seriously! Be her friend, as close as you can get. (ex: give her a shoulder to cry on, be excited and happy for her when she is...ect.) And be sure to be there for her when she breaks up with her boyfriend. Don't try right away to get her, but be sure to drop a few hints. Guys so often don't see hints when we women drop them, but she'll get the idea when you do. ;)

Good Luck!:D

*Blah.*

That has more to do with the great incompetence with which hints are dropped by most women than with the guys' incompetence to be able to catch these hints. So basically, it's your own GD faults.

Dropping hints is just so 1992. (Or any other non-2003 year.)

I'm not generalising, I'm factualising!

Let me tell you how great this works.

This girl I've darn near fallen in love with dated my friend for a year and a half. I was there everytime she called, everytime she needed me for absolutely anything. She finally broke up with him - not 24 hours later she was out on a date with another guy. Now she thinks she can still call me when she needs someone to be a friend.

To hell with that. I'm done. Break my friend's heart and try to get sypathy from me? HA!
