... to release a clutch shifter combo for PS2. If this set up was say $200 would you buy it. Game or no game I sure as hell would. Steel Batalions has it why not a racing game. And yes that is a GT Force pro in this video. Another reason why console will never be better than PC's.

And the goods. The game is Live for speed and notice the 900 degree turning.

I'd be content if they include a clutch button, and they stay true to original production cars (i.e. if you want to drive a Viper you've got to know how to drive a manual transmission, because you just can't get one with an automatic).

they aren't designing the game with a clutch in mind, so there is no way they could put out a clutch kit after the game comes out

Personally I would like to have one of those, may be for a special version of the game. However, If they are selling it for $200, I would demand FFB with variable resistance steering/brakes/clutch, shift knob with shift gate.

A realistic clutch (ie manual only Viper) would piss off a lot of their potential market. A lot of people don't understand the concept of the clutch, those that do would probably get irritated at having to shift it smoothly using analogue buttons. Someone else said in a thread that GT manages to be "Sim but not boring", the clutch concept compromises that. If it's TOO fiddly it'll put people off, you can't force them to do what they don't want too.

Well, If there is really such a system for GT, and If they are really selling it for $200USD. Buying a system like that would almost mean that you are pretty hardcore about your games and driving games in particular. People would probably be pissed off about the price more than anything else. Btw, there is always the joypad. With a popular and pretty realistic game like GT, not to mention thousands of devoted followers; advancements in hardware is ,IMO, a logical evolution. Look how Logitech developed the 900 steering just for this game (at least for now). I am not a bit suprise if they will have something like that in the future.

It probably will get implemented somewhere along the line as we strive for realism, it just has to be done carefully. Also, with those sort of steering wheels, is there force feedback on the pedals? Because actually feeling the clutch feeding in, just like in a real car, would make it awesome and worth it.

Lets all not forget the very first word of the topic.

As for the $200 price the wheel alone is $150. $50 more for 1 more pedal and a 8 slotted shifter would be a steal. Steel Batalions is still a hot sell on Ebay.

and it would be for the same hardcore gamers who spend lots of cash and time building racing set ups for GT3

It's certainly not impossible, nor unrealistic anymore.

Good Idea!!!

What PS2 Xbox ect does not know is that people are willing to shell out Good Money for a great Wheel!!!!

I am about to buy the $150 GT4 Pro Force wheel but in my opinion they can do better.

I think that the Red logitech MOMO wheel was almost perfect!!! Now if somebody can combine the technology of the GT4 Proforce with the looks of the Red Momo wheel and add a clutch for $200. I would be all over it.!!!!

Design something that looks like the Frex Momo Wheel but for $200. I am sure this is possible.
