Is it possible to create a button similar to the YouTube and Wikipedia ones for the IMDb? Or is that something that is hardwired into vBulletin? If it is possible, I for one would find it very handy. It could also help in movie/actor discussions, by allowing easy linking to a particular film or actor's IMDb page.

What, you mean like sticking in [IMDB]Jennifer Aniston[/IMDB] and getting a link to their page? I don't think it's possible, sadly, because of the way IMDB names it's pages. JA's page, for example, is http://imdb.com/name/nm0000098/, and has no relation to her name outside of IMDB's database.

You could do it like searches, though. So instead of the relivant page coming up, a search with those keywords would appear, like this: http://imdb.com/find?s=all&q=jennifer+aniston. That way is a lot more foolproof, too - if you spell the person's name wrong, it'll still show up some results.

No, that's not quite what i meant. I mean that you could type the name, then select it, click the button... actually, what's the difference between that and clicking the insert link button? Stupid idea, forget it! :dunce:

But the way I was thinking, you would. And since IMDb Pro is my home page, that's not a problem. I was thinking something similar to the youtube one where you just put the number in, but that would be the same as putting in a link, since you would need to get the number from the address bar anyway.

And since IMDb Pro is my home page, that's not a problem.
It is for us non-pro folk, if you give us a link to imdb and put the pro bit in.

I think I did that maybe once! Pure habit from posting on the forums there. The search idea would work, but I now think it would perhaps be a little messy and under used to warrant the effort.

I've seen a very good implementation of IMDB data at HDClips.net, although I have not seen a similar plugin available for vBulletin (which they are not using). As you guys have already concluded, I'm not sure if the feature as suggested would get much use.
