Just thought of that and thought it could be a great idea to know if put in a race it could actually compete or not, What do you think? :D

I don't think so, considering the AI doesn't react to you at all.

Maybe if the AI were racing other AI of the same program. If not, they'll just hog the racing line and brake on straights as usual.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is maybe we'll see it with a complete different eye in real life. Maybe we'd think they're actually pretty good? :D

Maybe, at time trials, if they were more agressive, but there is no way we could safely use GT6s AI in a race against a human in real life. They just don't adapt well enough to allow for the vast amount of things that vary in a race.

I think GT6's AI is pretty safe, they brake early enough not to hit other cars (which many people find too unagressive). I'm really curious to know the result :D

It's not the braking, it's the turning. They have no regard for your position on the track, and will sideswipe you if you're in their way.

It's like driving here in Atlanta, they're oblivious to everyone except themselves.

It would be interesting to see a bunch of the AI racing real cars, but I don't think a human (Read: Something much more variable than an AI) on the track with them would be a very good idea.

Actually it never happened to me that they sideswipe me, except on the weird AI of the seasonals. They have a hard time changing their racing line indeed, but if you're in front of them, they will slow down a lot from my experience.

Haha. But I still don't get it. From my experience GT6's AI is an optimized one to run fairly safe, you get the impression they are too agressive?

Same here.

They follow the same line, so you pretty much know where they are, and they brake or lift everytime you go pass them.

It's not much of a competition, other than training to pass traffic that don't have rear view mirror. I personally don't know why people care so much about AI, when they can race online.

AI is apparently a must have for racing game players nowadays. I don't care much about the AI in GT6, there are times where races become a cakewalk because of them, and there are times where races become a living hell because of them.

They at least know how to drive aggressively and overtake others, so that's enough for me.

in seasonals events they run like you're not there. I wouldn't say they're agressive, I'd say they're idiots. haha

Too aggressive, no...too stupid, yes. Any driver that slammed on their brakes entering the turns the way they do would have their license yanked and any that intentionally slowed to let you win would be fired by the teams or sponsors rather quickly.

They have "good" AI, or better, they have AI capable of pulling fast, varied yet consistent laps, B-Spec Bob shows that much, some of their first Expert (almost no variation though) events did that too.
Why the bulk of the game doesn't feature it? Because without qualifiers and 3 to 7 lap races, most users wouldn't be able to go "from last to first!".
As responding to the player behaviour, that's harder. They do have a range to identify you and "slow down" and open so you can pass them. But they are not good at predicting cutting driving lines ( which most users love to do because their aim is solely to overlap traffic ) so you'll get them sideswiping you in corners where you come faster on the inside.

Should they offer the slider option in "career mode"? Sure, I think they'll probably do that.

I had a race the other day in the seasonal event of tokyo reverse in the LMP1/GroupC cars. I had a side by side clean battle for a position from the back half of the course around to the last corner of the track.

Gran Turismo AI isn't the best of the bunch, but they are good, and do respect your position provided you are treating the other cars on the track with some decent courtesy.

The problem I have with GT AI, is you have to slow your car down so much on the straights to bring your lap time in line with theirs. Which doesn't make for exciting tense battles. Also, you don't get a chance to race them any more in GT6 compared with GT5. GT6 they slow down based on your position, if you do poorly, the lead AI slow down. I don't want that. I love in GT5 Endurance races I could run a lap time in my car, and the AI would try to go as quickly as possible. I had a brilliant race at the Suzuka 6 Hour event, where I wasn't sure I was going to win until the final 30 minutes. That's just not possible in GT6, which is a shame.

This isn't looking good for New Jersey at all.
Having some experience with AI, though - and in various games, not just GT - I might just survive. :D
Ever see someone in the express lane shoot all the over to the right lane to make an exit?
