Do the miles added to a car used a great deal, affect its performance in any way?

I have read somewhere in the forums that you can have permanent performance loss when they are driven past a certain mileage.

Eventually, you won't be able to restore a car to its peak horsepower. My X2010 prototype has been driven over 60k miles by Bob. When I restored at 15k, it only let me restore to 1552 rather than the 1557 at which the car originally peaked.

It also seems to lose horsepower faster between oil changes with a lot of miles, but I don't have any data to substantiate that.

I'd imagine that to get that last 5 HP, you have to do an overhaul.
Which costs 500,000 credits, which means, you pay 100,000 cr for each pony that you want back.

Nope, an overhaul won't do it. My X2010 has over 13K and its HP peaks at 1554 after an overhaul.

And to think I've done over 1000 miles on my 1992 CELICA, better restore it.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my original post. I meant that it had 1552 after I did the engine restore. I didn't bother restoring again after that, but I do occasionally change the oil for giggles.

My poor x2010 Prototype has something like 1376hp and is in need of an oil change. It only has 1450 after the oil change right now. Maybe I'll do another overhaul soon just to see how much as been permanently lost...that sounds like something to do @ 100k miles.

kk thanks, so how many miles is a car likely to last before it loses its optimum bhp after an engine overhaul?

I have seen someone post 10k miles when that question was asked before. You might be able to use the Search function to give you a more definitive answer for this one.
