Impossible Arcade Races

Are there any Arcade setups that are impossible to finish first in? I just did some races by myself in Arcade where I do Professional and use Arcade garage cars only. I know the AI are random, but they're also based on the car you choose. After two (or three ...?) attempts with the Tom's Castrol Supra on SSR5 my closest competition was the Castrol Mugen NSX which pit once to my twice and beat me by 3.25x seconds. If I would have been 1/3 of a second faster per lap I could have taken him, so I'm sure it's doable.

But my question - are there any selections that are simply impossible to obtain first place in? After my Supra runs I grabbed the GT-One and jumped on Deep Forest. I was up against the 787B and R390 and could barely hang with them until the first pit where they just left me behind. I'm pretty pathetic with the GT-One, however, so I don't think that's a valid test.

Um, I'm kind of confused... are you asking if there are specific cars that you can choose that absolutely can't win, due to the AI that are chosen to compete against it?

... I think that you have paraphrased me quite well (:

i think the only RIDICULOUSLY impossible races against arcade cars happens when u play professional mode with any non-racing car besides the C-West Razo Silvia, Super Autobacs MR-S, Clio Sport race car, and other crappy race cars. Even if you choose a Mini Cooper, they put you up against GT-Ones, 787Bs, and GT1s.

Ah, okay! :D In that case, I've had the same suspicions after being soundly trounced in some Arcade races with a car that seemed way down on power compared to the competition. I guess the only way we'd be able to really test that though is to get someone like Famine to run every single car in every single Arcade Race for us. :D

At the 9 Boards comp last year, one of the rounds I subbed for was an Arcade Pro race at Seattle, using a full-build Integra Type R. Yes, a number of people (boombexus among them) were able to beat the GT One in the Integra R.

I wonder was it a clean race? - Of course it would have been it's boom, he isn't that devious is he?

you sure?...i tried it and i got a much reduced field with a mini cooper..

If you choose a tuned Rally car the AI will comprise of JGTC cars...which can be tough..

There was, as I recall, one AI contact or wallbrush allowed per lap. And each replay was strictly reviewed. If you got any advantage from contact, such as betting pushed from behind, or if your speed changed more than 5 mph either way, the run was DQed.

I was thinking of the same race.

In my submitted (clean) time, I was 3rd, but I did beat them a few times (still clean. Ish).

LoudMusic - Fat chance! :D

I just was playing around and I chose a Group C car the Suzuki Alto Works with a whopping 63hp or there abouts.

Anyway I chose a 10lapper professional arcade at Deep Forest, they put you up against the Dihatsu Cuore TR-XX, Mini Cooper, Yaris Euro, a New Beetle 2.0 and a Demio.

How the hell can this bloody 63hp box that looses speed while going uphill beat the Beetle?

I believe the Mini Cooper, Mira, and other cars that have horsepower that low that can be ran in Arcade Mode are impossible to win with, because the other cars are faster and have a lot more horsepower.

I meant if you chose a mini cooper from your garage in arcade mode =P. Sorrie for being unclear

I originally stated that I was using ARCADE GARAGE cars. I assume the scale gets blown out of proportion if you use modified cars.

If kyou use, say, a modified Spoon S2000 Racer, you may be pitted against the "big" JGTC cars.

Tell me about it... a ~500hp/~1000kg FF car vs the 700hp/~700kg 787B, 600hp/900kg TS020 and ~600hp/~900kg R390 LM... Bloody nightmare mate.

If you choose cars from your garage the AI will choose GT1s and stuff which is great if your in a Tommy Kaira ZZ11 but any other non-racers and ur screwed.

I ran a tuned Altezza LM in Midfield II once, took me a couple tries before I could beat the R390. The AI is pretty smooth through the hairpin after the tunnel, as opposed to me. :p

okay, to be clear then....you say that if you choose arcade mode on hard and choose a mini cooper from your garage, the AI will consist of Toyota GTOne's and Mazda's 787B etc....the elite field?

i will have to try that...

I once tried racing my fully modded Suzuki Alto Works in arcade (don't remember what level) and I ended up against "the elite field"! I guess they choose the competition based on power to weight as it was quite low (+250hp for 700 kg or something).

Quite doable, I came third after making a mistake in the last lap at Monaco.

I dont know if it is fully modded or not but my Cooper is 167bhp and when raced in Arcade>Hard mode the field consisted of

1. Maxda RX-7 RS
2. Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STi
3. Mercedes-Benz CLK
4. Corvette (blue with white stripes)
5. Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R
6. Mini Cooper 1.3i

thats a 300ish hp competition....not exactly R390 or 787b or GT-One...

if your looking for a tough race...try that.
