Hey every one. As some may have seen my threads I changed my DFGT after a good 6 month usage for a G27. My impressions after using it a bit for 3 days now are:

-amazing robust quality no cheap feeling and the leather wheel is great on the hands
-loved the led rpm thing
-the shifter is great
-the way clutch works in GT5 is very good (except its only 100% when you press but when you get the handle of it, it's not a problem at all), I love that you can misshift feels so real
-the wheel is miles away from DFGT, which is the opposite from what I had red in here (people said that DFGT is the same wheel with G27 0just better pedals and shifter). It moves way more naturally and similar to a car and you can handle bad situations a lot better.
-best of all SILENCE at last! The wheel is more silent than what I could have expected.
-the pedals are a lot better than DFGT (I had modded the brake but even that wasn't much compared to the G27 pedal). You can really handle the brake well. I ordered the nixim mod since it's so cheap and see how much better the brake will become.

My first thing to do is an ebrake. I'll do that as soon as possible!

I used 10 ffb with DFGT and G27 for your info.

I really don't mind that GT5 doesnt fully support G27, but if it did it would be even better!

My advice to people with DFGT is..... UPGRADE NOW you won't get dissapoint. I don't know how much G27 is for you but I found mine for 230 euro instead of 300 that Logitech sells them!

If any has a question shoot!

When you factor in the importance of the G27 pedals for speed, and the 6 speed for fun, this must be one of the best pieces of equipment ever made.

I don't think its better than the next gen wheels like GT3 and T500 but it musnt be that much worse, especially if you factor its price I think it's a steal!

Once you get to G27 quality, I think the major diff is the pedals, so any fanatec gear is better due to CSP, but you can always add them if you feel like it, but I think nixim2 mod makes more economic sense.

I repositioned a new piece of sponge under my DFGT brakes, and went faster, but it still locks up alot.

I used the rubber band solution and it made a difference. But still you cant compare it even with stock G27 brake. I guess with nixim it's gonna be even better! Since I only play GT5 I don't know how much of a solution would be to get CSP as the brake FFB wont work!

In the end 230 euro +200 for the pedals I have same value with the fanatec wheel + csp pedals :P. Anyway I am done after I install nixim ! I will also do reverse mode and the handbrake and I am complete ;)

The way ISR talk about the nixim2 mod, you probably won't ever need CSP.
I'm not sure if GT5 will be so demanding on the brakes.....when I drive Shift1/2 and go back to GTR EVO I crash for a few laps till my feet adjust to the extra sensitivity, either way, I can't see how anyone can go wrong with a G27....it's affordable luxury:):)

Braking is really important, if you have really progressive brake you can achieve steady good laps. It matters in all racing games (sim or almost sim)

There maybe a small (if any at all) advantage CSP/load cell has over G27 pedals with nixim mod in Iracing but for everything else nixim is just as good. I got a load cell mod for my G27 after using the old version of the nixim mod for a year and the only difference in braking I notice is the load cell has less throw. But for Gt5 I can brake just as good with the nixim mod. Now the newer version seems to be even better according to ISR review. If I hadn't already ordered the load cell I would have bought the upgrade version.

That is very good to hear! I expected it would be something like that! If you compare 300 dollars that CSP and perfect pedal costs the 30 $ that nixim mod costs makes it a must!

Biggest problem with my DFGT is that it always feels like the brake gets stuck, so I lock up even after lifting off a bit, so it's like a small delay before full release, but it's too late by then, just smoke....:yuck:

OK yesterday wife and kids took pity on me and left me to play with my G27 a little more :).

Before I made the new setup I did a 4 months break until I had everything in place. A few days before the G27 I did some seasonals with my DFGT which I couldnt finish. I tried these same seasonals with the G27 today. Since I was not used to any of the wheels (after a 4 month break) I believe it's a fair comparison!

I used paddle shifter because I am not that good with clutch and h shifter yet. The result I made a lot better times and made it through the seasonals without too much hassle (2-3 seconds less per lap in 2nd try).

I am not saying I wouldnt be able to do these times with DFGT, it's just that the G27 works more as you would expect from a car wheel so i adapted pretty fast and had way more precise control on the car.

Hi theofiloz,
boy... ur nick is hard to spell..haha. I am using G27 and recently installed NIXIM mod...the brake is now indeed better and more realistic.. as it is firmer and you need not push all the way in...to get full braking.. But then u have to adjust to the new distant because when you press half way it is full braking lock already... Nonetheless i feel it is better than original..

but for the clutch it is pretty stiff and now i can't heel toe and shift accurately.. still practising...

Another poison mod i recommend you.. Order the chilicoke wheel adapter..No matter what when you use the 270mm g27 wheel it is still to small and toyish so i bought the adapter and change to original momo milenium wheel 300mm...It really upgraded the set furthur and you feel that it is not toyish at all..FFB also better because the real wheel is weighted..

Cheers

My view is one should be careful how much they spend modding a G27....as it is, the stock G27 is without question one of the best sets ever made, especially when we factor in price.

My problem is that at some point, one can buy the soon to be released CSRe wheel, and by all accounts, nothing other than the hexy T500 or higher wheels can match it, of course it's then a no brainer to add CSPedals and you have the equipment to be the best as Hutto and Alfalla proved using affordable gear to make names for themselves.

I thought of it but I like the rpm leds and buttons! I can't say I am not tempted to try it out!

Have you reversed your pedals?

Hi Puggy and Theofilz,
Well said and I agree. One should not keep overspent to mod the g27 as for its price, it is very very good and no other wheel can match already...But the NiXim mod at $30-40 is really a steal and must have..

The chilicoke adapter also not very costly I feel..I bought everything in phases... to stop myself from ever wanting to buy Fanatec wheel or Thrustmaster which easily cost $800SGD in Singapore here (G27 $450). Worst of all, to order such bulky item and ship to Singapore is quite a hassle also.. Over here many people are selling original or replica 320mm Momo wheel at USD$30 so i feel it is reasonable to buy..The feeling is really superb, totally won't feel toyish...anymore...I just saw from youtube can replace the gear knob to momo knob, i am going to try out tonight as i have a spare gear knob haha.

Theofilz, I have not reverse mount my pedals...for the time being this is the mod that i am most lazy to try as need to touch my 'rig' setup...Hope all will enjoy the NIXIM mod when goods arrive. Cheers.
