Impreza LM Race Car problem

Okay, I'm in the middle of a 10 race series, and my Impreza Race car has been kicking butt reaching 219 MPH on some straights. Then I get to the Test Track race, and suddenly, having done no tweaking, it can't get above 171. This carries into the next race. Any thoughts? This was a prize car and hasn't been driven enough to need an oil change.
 
Very strange, can only be a glitch. Quit the championship and check if it happens on another race.
 
Are you sure you didn't tweak? For there to be such a big difference, you must have tweaked the gears.

Does it just not accelerate anymore or does it hit the rev limiter (speed will bounce up and down)?
 
It hits the rev limiter. I'm going to quit and go to my last save and see where I am.
 
Alright. I swear I did no tweaking. Well, I'm fairly sure. Anyway. Tweaked the gears; all is good. Now to reenter the GT All Stars in Amat Lg. Thanks for the help, guys.

Just to follow up, once I re-tuned this car, I had no trouble winning the GT All-Stars series. The races were close, as I won by anywhere from 1 to 4 seconds, but I felt in control in all the races. To reiterate what someone said in another thread, there's nothing like learning to tune a car yourself. I'm finally starting to get the hang of it.
